Angels Speak - Stand Your Ground

As you move into 2017, think about boundaries, and standing your ground.  This is the year to be your own person.  This is the year to say no to anything that does not make your heart and soul sing.  This is the year to find your place and draw lines in the sand.

Yes, it is tough to say no to someone that you like or respect, or to someone who you think has more power than you do.  Know that a person only has power if you give them power in your life.  Even at work, you can shape your destiny.

Finding the right balance between being accommodating and being a hard ass is a learning process.  Don't worry, you can do it.  The goal is to make sure that everyone wins, and that you do not get pushed around.

It does not matter how we plan, as long as we plan.  It allows us to take advantage of the situations that arise that can move us forward to accomplish our dreams.

Winter Solstice December 21 2016

Winter solstice is a time to reflect on what you love to do, and find a way to make it happen.  When we are happy, our light – that spark of irrepressible energy that makes us all unique – shines brightly.  Solstice is about being inward focused and concentrating on expanding the self.

We all want success and well being.  Winter is the time to reflect on making it happen, and then offering up these energies at Solstice, to Creator, to make everything happen.

Preparing for Winter Solstice

Any celebration calls for preparation.  For the Winter Solstice, the preparations involve cleansing of the rooms, picking fresh cedar and spruce, making food for the various meals.  And of course, the buying and wrapping of gifts for friends and family. 

Winter Solstice happens this year at Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 3:44 am MST.  Immediately, the days begin to get longer and the Sun feels warmer.  It is a time of rejuvenation.

Today, decide what it is that you want to do with your time over the next six months.  Write it down.  Have it ready for Dec 21.

Angels Speak - Be Grateful

Our Ancestors practiced the act of Gratitude.  They did this every meal time, and at the changing of the seasons.  To show how grateful they were, they put out offerings to Nature and the Gods/Goddesses, and they performed dances and told stories to hammer home the concept of gratitude to the young.

In this time, we seem to have forgotten how to be grateful.  We seem to believe that all is due to us.  We complain when we come from another country to this place, that is warm and welcoming and without war, that the monthly allowance is not enough.  We complain that we need more health care even though we smoke and drink and do drugs and generally do not care for ourselves.

The Angels say that it is a learning process – the act of being grateful. 

Start practicing being grateful today.

Angels Speak - YOU ARE PERFECT–NO CHANGE REQUIRED

It is a funny state of affairs that when we are born, our parents look at us and think that we are perfect.  Then, as we get older, they tell us all the things that we must do to change, to be perfect.

One of the definitions from Dictionary.com says that the word "perfect" means "entirely without any flaws, defects, or shortcomings". The amusing part of the definition is that flaws, defects, and determination of shortcomings, are all in the eye of the observer. 

The observer only sees what is on the surface.  And, the observer only sees what his or her limited vision can see at the time.  So, how can anyone know that another is perfect, or not.

The Angels tell us that each of us is perfect inside and out, and perfect for the life that we have chosen at this time.

Angels Speak - Words From The Wise

We want to be able to give.  The problem is that when we start giving, people expect us to give more and more.  Then, they are angry when we stop giving.  They call us selfish or mean.  When they can not get anything more from us, they walk away and out of our lives.  That is a blessing!

When we love, our love is taken and twisted.  We hurt.  When we can not take any more, we walk away.  And often, more abuse is heaped upon us.  We take our love and our heart, and we put it away in a locked chest.  It is safer there.

When we trust, people look upon us as gullible, and try to take away what we have.  We hang on to our money and our 'stuff', and they tell us we are stupid and do not know what is good for our own selves.  Then they walk away.

When we listen, lies and stories are rained over us.  The truth that we look for is not recognizable. Everything is about an agenda that someone else will benefit from.  We turn away.  We are called names and our intelligence is insulted. We are safe.

Angels Speak - Give Your All To Life

When you are moving through your day, be conscious that it is a good day.  Be conscious that everything that happens to you is perfect, and that your being is prepared to have a perfect day. 

When you are moving through your day, smile and have a wonderful conversation with yourself about all the good you find in each activity.  Doing the action with love and compassion will bring you a great satisfaction.  Each action will seem easier.

When you are moving through your day, feel the peace and gentleness that exists.  Push away the negative emotions and negative energies that flow off of the unhappy people.  Bless them and send them love, and ask them, silently, to move away from your space. 

When you are moving through your day, offer thanks that you are so lucky to be in this place.

Spirit Animal - Tortoise Speaks Of Life

Tortoise comes in to speak with us about long life.  She is a prime example of living through many iterations of change, whether it is climate or food or surroundings.

Tortoise passes along this wisdom:

  • Pace yourself.  Hurrying does not gain you any time.  It simply wears you out.
  • Pay attention to your surroundings.  You need to find the best place to eat, to rest, to go for entertainment.  You cannot see these places if you rush.
  • Eat and live simply.  There is a peace in living simply that is destroyed by rushing, power, and materialism.
  • Be kind to yourself.  Know that you are doing what is best for you.  If you feel it is not best for you, do not do it.

Spirit Animal – Beaver

The Beaver family is resilient and lives about ten years in the wild and up to twenty years in captivity.  Beaver brings us some good information as we get deeper into winter and short days.

  • Beaver talks about ongoing changes in the environment and that sometimes, Nature has to take its course.  Humans cannot interfere or perfect, natural timing is disrupted.
  • Beaver talks about the need to get out and exercise in winter.  Yes it is cold.  One needs to move to get food and to keep all body systems functioning.
  • Beaver also talks about having food through the times where it is really cold and miserable out.  He tells us that we should have a supply of food for up to two weeks.

Recipe for Ginger Peach Jam For Christmas Giving and Eating

I love the taste of ginger and of peaches, and the combination of Ginger-Peach in this recipe is awesome.  The Jam is so good on toast, or pancakes, or chicken, or….

This is an easy gift for giving at this time of year.  Yes, I know, the fresh peaches are done.  I made this recipe using frozen peaches, thawed to room temperature. 

Ginger-Peach Jam

  • 3lbs peaches (about 6 cups)
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh ginger
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 14teaspoon allspice
DIRECTIONS
  1. Place the peaches in boiling water for 1 minute, or until the skins loosen.
  2. Then plunge them in ice water.
  3. Slip off the skins, halve the fruit and remove the pits.
  4. Cut the peaches into 1 inch pieces.
  5. In a large, non-reactive pot, mix the peaches, sugar, ginger, lemon juice and allspice.
  6. Simmer over medium heat for 30 minutes, or until the mixture thickens and mounds on the spoon.
  7. Ladle into jars and store in the fridge for up to 2 months.

This is the beginning of the great sleep of Winter.  When the winter is done, everything is changed. We find new challenges, new roads, and perhaps, new destinations.
When it is summer, everything feels so safe and colorful.  When it is winter, it feels quiet, and powerful, like a storm that is building.  Even though the days are get shorter and then longer, there is a sense of a reworking of all that is. 
We feel apprehension and excitement at the same time.  So many things happen in the next thirty days.  And it is everything that we have asked for.

Angels Speak - Finding Release

The Angels tell us that it is okay to feel Anger.  When we have pain caused by someone’s actions, we will feel anger and resentment.  If we suppress the emotions, we store it in our bodies, and it makes us sick.

The Angels tell us that we need to feel the emotions. We need to honor the emotions and immerse ourselves in that emotion.  Then we can let it go.

As we release each feeling, we need to set it free with love and grace, and we need to direct forgiveness to our self and to the person that we are angry with.  When we face it, we resolve it.

When you are not sure that you are on the right path, then call on the Light from with in to shine on the path that you are to follow.  You feel the light in your heart and body.  Your cells recognize the path from the light of your soul.

When people do bad things, then they are not feeling the light, and they are wandering into the dark places.  They have lost the clarity of purpose.

When things are turning around for you, let the light shine even stronger than when you were looking for your path.  Perhaps your light will be a lighthouse for someone else.

Angels Speak - Take Time To Read

Sometimes, we need to be alone and occupied.  The Angels say that reading can be a form of meditation, if you allow it to be.  You can read meditation books or fantasy or non-fiction.  It is the time that you take to be yourself, to be in a place where you are not wearing a mask, that makes this a wonderful experience.

When you read, you move to a state of mindfulness.  Experiencing mindfulness over and over as you read, lets you experience it more often when you do other activities.

When people poke fun at you reading, and they will, never apologize for who you are.  Readers have the gift of seeing more and seeing the bigger picture.  Readers move more easily into the Great Unconsciousness.

Angels Speak - Do You Wait For Friday?

The Angels tell us that we waste a good chunk of our lives in waiting for something that we think will make our lives better.  The best example is waiting for Friday… like Friday will magically change our life into something wonderful and fantastic.

When we work with TIME, we need to remember that time is a human construct.  Our Ancestors lived by sun and moon time. Nature still moves to rhythm or cyclic time. Natural cycles  is the harmony that we are all looking to achieve.  We can find it in the present moment.

Healing does not occur in the past or the future.  It occurs in the moment.  Watch animals that are wounded.  They find a spot that they think is safe, and they go there and sleep as much as they can so that healing occurs quickly.  Humans are so different.  They think that if they do this now and that then, they will heal. 

Happiness cannot be felt in the future, it can be felt in the moment.

The Angels speak about friendship and how all of us need to have some good friends.  In a discussion about friendship, a question came up.  “How do you know someone is a friend?”

The various answers are:

  • A friend is someone that you go out to do things with and to have fun with
  • A friend is someone like you who has the same spirit and values
  • A friend is one who brings peace to you when you are with them
  • A friend is someone who will do things for you, or be in service with you as you do things
  • A friend is someone that you share with out of love and trust.

Angels Speak - Be Strong

The Angels tell us that we need to be strong.  Strong in our physical body and in our emotional body.  By staying fit, the Angels say that we can more easily deal with the issues that are arising because of the chaos in the world right now. 

When we are strong in our emotional body, we do not get so upset that we cannot focus on what needs to be done.  If we are emotionally weak, we let our physical appearance fall into disrepair, and we can forget to eat.  Our Ancestors knew the value of staying strong.  With strength comes Confidence and Abundance.

What exercises help us the most?  Interestingly, walking or jogging slowly, or doing stretching yoga, are the exercises that will both keep you fit and will ground you.  These exercises will also help you keep your emotional body stable.  Sitting or walking meditation will support both your emotional body and your physical body.

A simple meditation that you can use many times during the day is this:

  • Put your tongue to the roof of your mouth
  • Set your timer on your phone for a minute
  • Close your eyes, or not
  • Breathe in and out for a minute, counting a breath in and out as one, the next breath in and out as two, etc.
  • The number of breaths in a minute is your 1 Minute meditation. 
  • Your pulse will slow down and your body will relax.

If meditation doesn’t work for you, try praying.

The Angels tell us that all of the people who are identified as weird, different, strange, or even scary, are the very people that make changes to the world.  They are not followers or part of the herd in the strictest sense.  They are the innovators that see the world from a different angle.

The Angels also tell us that everyone is weird.  Some folks shut it down because they do not want to be different or strange.  By shutting down, they kill the creativity that nestles in their bodies.  They begin to react to things by rote.

Angels Speak - It is about Faith

Have you ever had so many things happen to you that even though the events are  not really bad, it takes its toll on your time and energy?  Some of these events might be:

  • Your illness
  • A child’s illness
  • A parent’s illness
  • A death in the family
  • An accident of some sort
  • A series of mistakes at work
  • People leaving your team
  • Friends leaving your circle
  • Job change or job loss
  • An appliance break down in your home
  • Car repairs
  • A disagreement in the family
  • Unexpected expenses for dentist or insurance

The Angels tell us that although we may feel like we are being tested, we are not.  The events that happen are accumulations of energy that are outside of our control.  We feel like we are facing some big test – and that is an emotional reaction.  Really, it is just life.  We can accept with grace, or we can fight and make our lives difficult.

With faith in ourselves, our lives, our friends and our families, we can move through events with grace.

The Angels tell us that HAPPINESS has become a very complicated word on our lives.  Happiness and contentment and satisfaction were all rolled into one meaning for our Ancestors.  As time has progressed from the Industrial Revolution, happiness is being distilled into wanting more, having more, greed, power, dominance, and control.

The Angels say that we have lost the essence of happiness.  Happiness is the joy of being who you are, in the present moment, without any conditions.

When we move through the present and feel the life force of everything around us, we are interacting at a level where we are all we can be.  We are spiritual.  We are perfect.

There have been some very high energy changes in the atmosphere recently.  These energies have been pressuring us to make decisions about what we would like to do next with our lives. 

The easy answer is to carry on as we are.  If that suits you, do it.  If you have been wanting a career change, then this is the time to make a switch.  Go back to school.  Get some training.  Find out if this new desire is your passion.  If it is not, you can always go back to your original work.

What changes do you want to make to your character?  Do you want to be nicer or kinder?  Do you want to be more giving or less giving.  These are some of the choices that we can make.

The Angels tell us that now – the month of November – is the opportune time to change what we want to change.

Mountain Lion comes in to talk about life and to give advice.  She says that life is tougher in the mountains this year than the last several years.

  • She predicts that some mountain lions will perish because there is a lack of food
  • She also predicts that more mountain lions will lose their lives to human interference whether by accident, or by hunting
  • She tells us that staying physically active will keep one strong and able to face the issues that are coming from the changing weather
  • She says that having good shelter is very important
  • She ask that you listen to your intuition or instinct and follow it.

All Hallows Eve October 31 2016

All Hallow's Eve is the night before All Saints Day.  Over the years, the name has been shortened to Hallowe'en (from Hallow Even).

In Northern Europe, Samhain starts on October 31 and ends on November 1. This was the time of the season designated to honor the bountiful harvest, and to ask for a kind winter.  It was also a time to honor the Ancestors' spirits for helping to create the abundance in the family.

Since the celebration started on the 31st by our current calendar, this is the time that the Ancestor Spirits started to come into this plane.  Since some spirits can come in with ANGER because of what the family has done, or by what was done to them, we have the tradition of creepy, scary spirits.  Where the family has treated the Ancestors with COMPASSION, love, and where they have communicated with the Ancestors with prayers and offerings, the spirits come in as benevolent.

The idea of scary faces on pumpkins was to scare off the spirits that were roaming the Earth that were not related to you, and who may do harm. 

Tonight is a good night to remember the Ancestors with kindness and honor them.

The Mountain Sheep move through the fresh snow, looking for food.  The mountain air is chilly and the temperature is dropping.

Mountain Sheep says that their life is a lesson for all beings.

  • Stay strong and fit so that you can manage the challenges that come at you as we sheep need to manage in the mountains.
  • Keep your diet simple so that it is always easy to find food to eat.  The higher the altitude, the less food is available. 
  • As your vibration changes, eat accordingly.  Do not eat what others eat, for it can make you ill.
  • Stay with your herd for there is safety in the community.  Alone you will be hunted and will fall.

Angels Speak - The Task of Creating

Creating is something that we all do everyday.  However, we do not think about it very much.  When we cook ourselves and our family a breakfast, we are creating.  When we move through the day, we are creating.  We are creating our life.

If free will did not exist, we would not be able to create with love and abandonment.  We would not be able to bring in new colours, thoughts, feelings, into what we do every day. 

For many, the act of creating something is a form of meditation.  The act takes you outside of yesterday and tomorrow and puts you right in the present.  In this space, you are connected to all that is, including deep love that runs through the Universe.  This love that is has no judgements; it is unconditional.  It gives us the space to do our life purpose of creating our life.

We are responsible for our life.

How to Start Your Workday with Mindfulness Meditation

Here’s a meditation you can do at your desk or workstation to help begin the day right. (Of course, if you can do a little mindfulness meditation before you leave home, you can get a jump on handling your stress.) Hold off on checking your emails or consulting your to-do list. Instead, set aside five minutes or so to ground yourself in the present moment and tune into your sensations.

  1. Begin by closing your eyes and taking three or four deep breaths through your nose.
    Inhale deeply, and allow the exhalation to be as long as your body naturally wants it to be.
  2. Rest your attention on the coming and going of your breath.
    Let go of controlling your breathing and allow it to settle into a natural rhythm. Be aware of the sensations at your nostrils as you inhale and exhale. Alternatively, you can notice the sensations of the rising and falling of your chest and belly as you breathe. If you find it helpful, you can say the words inhale and exhale silently to yourself with each in-breath and out-breath.
  3. As thoughts and feelings wash over you, keep coming back to the breath.
    Despite what you may have read or heard, meditation is not about trying to stop your thoughts and feelings, but about allowing your thoughts (and feelings) to come and go without getting lost in them — and, when you do find that you’re lost, coming back to the breath.
  4. If possible, notice which thoughts keep recurring and which thoughts are the most stressful and upsetting.
    Again, no need to stop the thoughts. Just notice, and allow plenty of space for them to pass through without judgment or resistance. Practice noticing thoughts and coming back to the breath for five minutes or as long as you like.
  5. Deliberately turn your attention to your most pressing concerns at work.
    After you’ve spent some time noticing thoughts and being aware of your breath, you can experiment with welcoming the thoughts, plans, ideas, and feelings that cause you the most stress at work. Play the edge between getting caught up in them and stepping back from them and returning to your breath. Notice whether they lose some of their stressful charge.
  6. Let go of your meditation and turn your attention to the job at hand.
    Notice whether you feel any different than you ordinarily do at the start of the workday. Are you more centered? Do you feel more spacious and less contracted? When you find your head filling with stressful thoughts again, you can pause and be aware of your breathing for a cycle or two. Or you can set an alarm that goes off every hour to remind yourself to return to your breath.

Nature Speaks - About Patience

What do we know of patience?  Well, as humans, not much.  We are impatient creatures.   We want everything now.  We want everyone to move as fast as we do, or faster.  We do not want to creep along like a snail or a tortoise.  We want to gallop like the horse and jet like the eagle.

The definition of patience is "the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset" according to Google Search.  Nature tolerates droughts, pestilence, floods, freezing, snow, interference by man, and setbacks from animals.  Then, everything carries on.

Patience, then, is accepting, instead of expecting.

Nature Speaks - Take Time To Enjoy

Nature gives us so many beautiful moments.  Many of these moments go unnoticed.  We have become so driven to "do" that we are not remembering how to "be". 

The greatest gift of Nature is teaching us how to be – to be ourselves with out changing anything to please others or to conform to someone's idea of rightness, beauty, goodness, etc.

Nature does not live in the past.  Nature is always in the present.  This is why specific moments of beauty are unique, and will not be repeated.  Yes, an event may be similar.

What is a lovely moment?  It will be different for all of us.  Here is a short list of what different people consider a lovely moment.

  • New leaves unfurling in the spring
  • The birth of a baby animal or bird
  • Northern lights
  • Sunrise in the mountains
  • The sun sparkling on a river
  • The inflow of waves from the ocean
  • A bird singing in a tree
  • Seeing a butterfly on a flower
  • Watching wild flowers sway in the wind
  • Seeing leaves turn from green to gold

Angels Speak - A Life Lesson

The Angels tell us that we spend too much time in the past reviewing a sequence of events and either mourning what happened or trying to rework the event into a different ending.

The Angels tell us that by doing re-runs of our life, we are limiting what can happen in the future.  We play the movie so often that it becomes encoded in our cells and thus becomes a limiting belief.

The Angels tell us that we can learn from simple stories such as the one above, and that they have been created for us to learn from.  Although people often dismiss stories, our Ancestors always used stories for teaching.

Angels Speak - Futility

Futility means pointlessness or uselessness.  And yet, we keep trying to move through each day with grace.

What one sees as a useless action  actually does have a point for the person doing the action.  The action keeps us focused and occupied.  It provides a time of strengthening.  The act is repetitious and gives us some aspect of control through the action.  Life is funny that way.

  • To be a master means to do the same thing over and over and over without tiring of it
  • Repetition makes the impossible possible because your body responds without thought
  • Technique is meant to be refined constantly.  No situation is ever exactly the same.  Similar, perhaps, but not the same.

Buddha Speaks - Serenity

One of the teachings of Buddha talks about is how to be accepting of life.

Desiring to change is okay, but longing for change actually hinders our growth. An important aspect of developing acceptance is learning to avoid craving. Craving is when we long for something, and unfortunately craving can make us very unhappy. One common form of craving is to crave experiencing something different from our current experience. So, we long for change, we work to change, and in doing so, we hinder our ability to change.  What a paradox!

Angels Speak - Quiet Time

The Angels tell us that we all need quiet time.  If LIFE is wearing you out, it is a sign, that it is time, for some peace and quiet. 

Our Ancestors did not have the level of noise in their lives that we do now.  By noise, I refer to the hum of electricity, the noise of your fridge, clock, washer/dryer, oven, microwave, radio, TV, phone, computer, or any gadget that shares your space.  Outside, we have traffic noises, plane noises, train noises, and the hum of people.

We are charged with electromagnetic fields which bombard us all the time.  We are constantly wired without realizing it.

Space, air, and quiet help to diminish the noise that permeates our lives.  We are not really sure what absolute silence sounds like.

Find time to find quiet.

Angels Speak - One Good Quality

Our teachers surround us every day – parents, siblings, friends, co-workers, children, bosses, team members, and the public.  A teacher may teach without being in a formal setting.

The Angels tell us to listen carefully to what others say to us.  When one of your characteristics is being praised, do not discount it.  Learn from it.  Bless it.  Expand it.  You have the qualities that are unique to you.

When you focus on the good, not the bad, a new harmony is created in your energy.  People like to be around you.  Some of the qualities that give us the capacity to grow are Compassion, Forgiveness, Humbleness, Helpfulness, and Kindness.

Angels Speak - Remember to Laugh

The Angels tell us that there are waves of depression and anxiety rolling around the world to different groups of people.  Usually, the waves are part of a natural disaster or part of a man made conflict.  It may be the tiniest disagreement to the largest ongoing war.  Regardless of the size of the conflict, it feeds the despair.

The Angels tell us that when we feel that wave of depression or despair that we need to think of something good in our lives—something that makes us smile or laugh.  Perhaps it is a family thing, an old joke, an old memory of laughing time with a group of friends, or, anything that you can visualize or remember that made you laugh.  In that memory, inside yourself, is your ability to heal yourself from the despair.

Angels Speak - Rest is Important

The discussion came up at work about whether you really need eight hours of sleep at night.  Or, whether you need more or less.  When we took a survey of ten people, one need about six hours, one needed ten hours, and the rest came in at around seven hours.  Funnily enough, all agreed that they constantly felt tired.

The Angels tell us that sleep is very important to our physical body because it is during sleep that we do the most of our cell regeneration.  Yes, we constantly regenerate.  During the day, however, we do not have the same uninterrupted flow of energy to dedicate to healing unless we purposefully stop whatever else we are doing, and spend healing time.

The Angels say that sleep is important to our mental body because when we are at rest/sleeping, our mind is able to categorize our experiences of the day.  If people are sleep deprived, they cannot categorize their experiences and will have hallucinations or breaks with reality. 

And finally, The Angels say that sleep is important for our emotional body.  Our emotional body is indicator of who you really are at the core.  Some people put on masks or facades to protect who they are.  Deprive them of sleep and their natural good nature or angry nature, or what ever nature will come to the surface. 

Starting today, plan out your sleep.

October 1 signifies that in Canada, winter is just around the corner and that snow will be here very soon.  This year, the snow is already ski ready in the Lake Louise area. 

Snow reminds us that this is a time of sleeping for most of Nature.  It reminds us to finish clearing out the flower beds and the garden, and prepare for next spring.  It is a time when many of us sign up for courses because we are also preparing ourselves for the next spring when we hope to undertake changes in our life style or in our careers.

October then, is about planning.  It is not about making hard and fast rules.  It is about thinking about the choices that you wish to make, and putting those choices in to action.
