Ancestors Speak – Blue Moon (Dec 31 2009)

Tonight, Dec 31, 2009, will be a “Blue Moon”.

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/091229/science/science_us_sci_blue_moon_1  The New Year's Eve blue moon will be visible in the United States, Canada, Europe, South America and Africa. For partygoers in Australia and Asia, the full moon does not show up until New Year's Day, making January a blue moon month for them.

Our Ancestors believed that great magic was at work when the moon appeared to have a blue tinge to it.  The different phases of the moon were all celebrated and a different goddess was attributed to each day of the moon.  The Blue Moon signalled that great changes, usually physical changes, would happen on the Earth.  Of course, each change affected the humans, and so they completed elaborate rituals to honour the Moon Goddess of the Blue Moon, and humbly asked for protection from what ever was to come.

This emotion comes through in today’s Tarot cards.  For example, The Moon card from the Arto Deck is beautiful, and shows Artemis, Moon Goddess, walking the hunt with her dogs and carrying the Hare which is sacred to her.

image

The Arto deck was published by Adam McLean in 2008

However, the card shows that emotions play a huge role in the picture’s story. One dog is howling, and one dog is looking protective of Artemis.  The lobster out of the water is unnatural, and speaks of unnatural things happening.  When the Moon card shows up, a reader will tell you that it is time to pay attention to intuition, to watch for magic, and also to be aware of a world going topsy turvey.  Even though the ocean shows calmness on the surface, there are big currents underneath, that are hidden.  The sail boat, sailing with a full sail is also not normal for most often at night, the sails are down.  This means that some power is at work, trying to move goods and perhaps men,  while most people are sleeping. In other words, power is working in the darkness in an effort to keep things hidden.

Perhaps this is a reflection of how governments around the world have been trying to lie to their constituents about how the government uses money, about food supplies, and about pharmaceuticals that have been put on the market, and were not thoroughly tested.

This Blue Moon signals that 2010 will be a time of reckoning for deceitfulness, and gives warning to individuals to trust in the natural, and what is in their heart.

Happy New Year’s Eve!

Ancestors Speak – Healing a Cold

image    Picture of a cold comes from www.medicinenet.com

In Calgary, in December, especially around Christmas, people quite often have colds because the weather is so changeable, they may not dress correctly for the fluctuations, and it is so easy to catch a cold from someone else.

This thought raced through my brain as I drove home from the grocery store after having been sneezed and coughed on by at least six people.  Sometimes a sneeze comes out so fast you simply do not have time to get your arm up to block it.

So, when I got home, I did some research in one of my favourite books – The Five-Elements Wellness Plan A Chinese System for Perfect Health by Barbara Temelie.  And, yes, the small type in the title is part of the title.

I found the discussion of the cold on page 146, and what she said made sense to me. She talks about the effect of cold or “a cold” on the body as closing the pores.  To release the cold, the pores must be open, and the person must be sweating.  The Chinese Ancestors recommend ginger tea and hot alcohol such as hot spicy wine for a head cold. A rice dish with leeks and onions and hot spices will open up the lungs to strengthen the body’s natural immunity.

Although I am not much on spicy wine, I love ginger tea.  And, this morning, I woke up with a head cold. I drank lots of ginger tea, took Vitamin C and D, and ate soup with rice and leeks and onions.  By tonight, I am feeling much better. I hope that the cold will be completely gone by tomorrow.

If you try this, let me know how it works!

Spirit Animals – White Elk Speaks

These beautiful pictures were forwarded by my friend, Marilyn.  These animals are breathtaking!

image

           The pictures are from Johndbrown.com

White Elk is also a messenger.  He brings the message of wading through the toxic emotions that hold people back.  Have you ever said, “If it weren’t for that time …… when I…..” Or, have you ever said, “It is not my fault!”

If you have, then White Elk is speaking to you!  He says that it is time to become accountable.  Each emotion that you feel is an honest creation of your body – no one else’s body.  Therefore, what you feel is not created by others; it is created by self.  Take a look at why you needed to feel this emotion.  What lesson is being brought in to the white light for clearing?  If you can not or will not identify the issue, the lesson will cycle again until you clear it.

Although we have a saying, “Things are not always black and white”, generally speaking, they are!  You either accept that something triggers you, or you don’t.  If you acknowledge that all triggers are all your lessons, and not some other person’s lessons, then you will begin to move fully in to your soul awareness.

As this happens, your awareness, like the antlers on White Elk, reach to the heavens to pull down more white light, that gives you assistance in clearing issues.

The next time someone makes you angry, or sad, or hurt, or alone, simply say: “This is my emotion, and I own it.  I allow it to be, and then I clear it.  I do not need this lesson any longer.”

Tarot Discussion – Silence Card 17

image

Osho Zen Card # 17.. Silence

Here is the write up that goes with the card:

The energy of the whole has taken possession of you. You are possessed, you are no more, the whole is.
This moment, as the silence penetrates in you, you can understand the significance of it, because it is the same silence that Gautam Buddha experienced. It is the same silence that Chuang Tzu or Bodhidharma or Nansen.... The taste of the silence is the same.
Time changes, the world goes on changing, but the experience of silence, the joy of it, remains the same. That is the only thing you can rely upon, the only thing that never dies. It is the only thing that you can call your very being. ~Osho~

This was the card that I pulled that goes with where I am in my life on this day – I am in Silence. There truly is joy in it.  The whiteness of the park this morning reflecting only the minute particles of sunlight trying to push the fog aside. And, the silence, created by the muffling effect of the hoar frost, gave comfort to the promise of something new.

May you have profound silence today, and in the silence, hear the answers that you have been seeking.

Buddha Speaks – A Master’s Tears

This Zen story really resonates for me around a holiday time.  The story is about showing compassion, something that is part of the eight noble truths.

image

Buddha picture with cobras from   bearspace.baylor.edu

One day, Ch'an Master K'ung-yeh was travelling on the road and met some bandits who wanted to rob him.

Tears fell from the Master's eyes.

The bandits started laughing and exclaimed, "What a coward!"

Master K'ung-yeh then said, "Don't think that I'm crying because I'm afraid of you. I am not even afraid of birth and death. I feel sorry for you young people. You are strong and healthy, yet instead of doing things that are beneficial for others, you hurt people by robbing them. Of course, what you are doing is not acceptable and cannot be tolerated by society. What is worse is that you will all go to hell and suffer great pain. I am so worried about you that I cannot restrain myself and am shedding tears for you"

The bandits were moved and decided to give up their evil ways.

May you find compassion for those that you do not understand.  May you seek understanding from the wisdom of the One.

Spirit Animal – Nightingale

image

Picture of the nightingale from www.mlahanas.de

Since I was little, I have been intrigued by tales of the Nightingale.  She is featured in many fairy tales, such as “The Nightingale” by Hans Christian Anderson.  In all of the stories, people want to own the Nightingale to possess her beautiful song.  On this Christmas Day, Nightingale brings a message that true freedom is not about being able to capture and control things and people or animals; true freedom is about being free to let all beings act and live exactly as they are meant to… unconditionally as nature intended.

Nightingale’s message is also in this beautiful traditional Christmas carol from Spain.

The Gift

A poor orphan girl named Maria
Was walking to market one day
She stopped for a rest by the roadside
Where a bird with a broken wing lay
A few moments passed till she saw it
For it's feathers were covered with sand
But soon clean and wrapped it was travelling
In the warmth of Maria's small hand
She happily gave her last peso
On a cage made of rushes and twine
She fed it loose corn from the market
And watched it grow stronger with time
Now the Christmas Eve service was coming
And the church shone with tinsel and light
And all of the townfolks brought presents
To lay by the manger that night
There were diamonds and incense
And perfumes
In packages fit for a king
But for one ragged bird in a small cage
Maria had nothing to bring
She waited till just before midnight
So no one would see her go in
And crying she knelt by the manger
For her gift was unworthy of Him
Then a voice spoke to her through the darkness
Maria, what brings you to me
If the bird in the cage is your offering
Open the door and let me see
Though she trembled, she did as He asked her
And out of the cage the bird flew
Soaring up into the rafters
On a wing that had healed good as new
Just then the midnight bells rang out
And the little bird started to sing
A song that no words could recapture
Whose beauty was fit for a king
Now Maria felt blessed just to listen
To that cascade of notes sweet and long
As her offerings was lifted to heaven
By the very first nightingale's song

From Judy – Christmas Eve Tale of Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer

This story comes from my friend, Geoffrey Keyte, Director of Healing International at http://healinginternational.ning.com

The Story Behind the Story of Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeer

image

Rudolph…

from www.guy-sports.com

A man named Bob May, depressed and broken hearted, stared out his drafty apartment window into the chilling December night.  His 4-year-old daughter Barbara sat on his lap quietly sobbing.

Bobs wife, Evelyn, was dying of cancer.

Little Barbara couldn't understand why her mommy could never come home. Barbara looked up into her dad's eyes and asked, "Why isn't Mommy just like everybody else's Mommy?" Bob's jaw tightened and his eyes welled with tears.

Her question brought waves of grief, but also of anger. It had been the story of Bob's life. Life always had to be different for Bob. Small when he was a kid, Bob was often bullied by other boys. He was too little at the time to compete in sports. He was often called names he'd rather not remember.

From childhood, Bob was different and never seemed to fit in. Bob did complete college, married his loving wife and was grateful to get his job as a copywriter at Montgomery Ward during the Great Depression. Then he was blessed with his little  girl.

But it was all short-lived. Evelyn's bout with cancer stripped  them of all their savings and now Bob and his daughter were forced  to live in a two-room apartment in he Chicago slums. Evelyn died  just days before Christmas in 1938. Bob struggled to give hope to his child, for whom he couldn't even afford to buy a Christmas gift. But if he couldn't buy a gift, he was determined a make one - a storybook!

Bob had created a character in his own mind and told the animal's story to little Barbara to give her comfort and hope. Again and again Bob told the story, embellishing it more with each telling.

Who was the character? What was the story all about? The story Bob May created was his own autobiography in fable form. The character he created was a misfit outcast like he was. The name of the character? A little reindeer named Rudolph, with a big shiny nose.

Bob finished the book just in time to give it to his little girl on Christmas Day. But the story doesn't end there. The general manager of Montgomery Ward caught wind of the little storybook and offered Bob May a nominal fee to purchase the rights to print the book. Wards went on to print,_ Rudolph the  Red-Nosed Reindeer_ and distribute it to children visiting Santa Claus in their stores.

By 1946 Wards had printed and distributed more than six million copies of Rudolph. That same year, a major publisher wanted to purchase the rights from Wards to print an  updated version of the book. In an unprecedented gesture of  kindness, the CEO of Wards returned all rights back to Bob May. The book became a best seller. Many toy and marketing deals followed and Bob May, now remarried with a growing family, became wealthy from  the story he created to comfort his grieving daughter. But the story  doesn't end there either.

Bob's brother-in-law, Johnny Marks, made a song adaptation to  Rudolph. Though the song was turned down by such popular vocalists  as Bing Crosby and Dinah Shore , it was recorded by the singing  cowboy, Gene Autry. "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" was released  in 1949 and became a phenomenal success, selling mo re records than  any other Christmas song, with the exception of "White Christmas."

The gift of love that Bob May created for his daughter so long ago kept on returning back to bless him again and again. And Bob May
learned the lesson, just like his dear friend Rudolph, that being different isn't so bad. In fact, being different can be a blessing.

Spirit Speaks – Friends Know No Boundaries…

My friend Theresa sent me these wonderful pictures taken by a lady in Harrisburg.  These pictures make me think of the movie, “Love Actually”, because, as the movie says at the beginning, love is all around.

These two adorable friends show that everyone needs someone. A young buck, for this fellow is just getting his horns, is usually isolated by others of his kind.  The cat is just as loving as can be and even grooms the big guy, so he looks presentable for the day.

The two animals are angels for each other, and truly show what love is all about… total unconditional acceptance of the other being.

Spirit Animal – White Moose

The following pictures were forwarded to me in an email from my friend Marilyn.   The first article on SPIRIT MOOSE appeared in my blog  Spirit Animal – Moose on December 8, 2008.

                    *************************

These animals  were  photographed just north of the Wisconsin border on  a highway  near Marenisco , MI .  Once in  awhile there is  an opportunity to take in a piece  of nature that you may never see. In  these days of  unrest and turmoil it is great to see  that GOD still  produces some wondrous beauty.

These white moose also support the prophecies that when the Earth is ready to shift, there will be all sorts of wondrous white animals appearing.  These Moose certainly qualify.

White Moose has a special message for all those that see her.  The message is that it is time to step over or around all the troubles (hurdles) that have been keeping you stuck.  Hurdles are an illusion, much like people think white animals are an illusion.  It is also time to return to the purest of thoughts.  Never mind what Joe, your neighbour, or your parents and siblings think!  It is what you think that matters.  Let go of being guided by others in your thinking.  Go to your heart and look at what feels right to you, and follow that guidance.

Love is light – bright white light!

Stars and Planets – Jupiter Dec 21 2009

The following information is from StarDate.org and covers the movement of the planets for the Winter Solstice.

image

This picture is of Jupiter, and comes from the StarDate site. It plays a big role in the way light comes to Earth.

December  20-21 Jupiter huddles close to the Moon. The brilliant planet is to the upper left of the Moon at nightfall on the 20th, and directly below it on the 21st. Through a telescope, Neptune is visible barely to Jupiter’s upper left.

Winter Solstice is always about beginnings.  It is the start of the “great sleep” where the seeds begin remembering their blueprint and why they are in the ground.  It is about hibernation and rejuvenation for many animals.  Many species give birth through hibernation, emphasizing that winter is the start of new life.

For humans, winter is the time of reduced activity, or, at least it was for our ancestors.  Now, there is very little that slows down human activity, except very great cold, and the fact that vehicles will not start.  Winter, as a season, gave mankind a chance to pause, and to rest, and to reflect about how life had been going, and whether one should be making changes to their life.  With increased activities and very long work hours, humans no longer seem to have time or to take time, to reflect, and to see if it feels like the person is on the right path.  The lack of reflecting time, the lack of resting time, and the constant, outwardly directed activity, will wear a person to the point of imbalance, and ultimately sickness.

During the winter respite, animals have healing time, even those that stay active through the winter.  Humans do not have that same healing time to correct health problems or physical problems.  Therefore, when illness hits in the winter, the illness seems to be more serious.

For this Solstice, try taking taking some time for self care, and then extend that self care to at least once per week.

May your Solstice be filled with love and light!

Angels Speak – Hello Healing

Today we celebrate Winter Solstice to open up the energies for tomorrow – December 21.  In our ceremony, we use the following healing as part of the process of getting ready for new beginnings.

image

Picture from www.myspace.com/melvynleejones/

 Say:  Hello, Healing

Say hello: Dear soul, mind, and body of my (insert what needs healing, leg, hand, heart, etc)
Give love: I love you
Make an affirmation: You have the memory of how to heal yourself, and you have the power to heal yourself
Give an order: Do a very good job!
Express gratitude and courtesy: Thank you! I love you.

Repeat every day. It can be applied to everything, self, groups, relationships, irrespective of distances.

This comes from "Soul Mind Body Medicine", Dr. Zhi Gang Sha

Note that Dr. Sha says that the sequence in the hello must be 'soul, mind, body' and that other sequences are not effective.  That may have been true at the time of writing.  However, I have experimented with the order, and just used soul and mind, and the effective release of what ever ailment has been quite miraculous.

Happy healing…

Spirit Animal - Jaguar

image

Picture of jaguar from www.animals-images.com

Last night, as I was falling asleep, my Black Jaguar, who sits on my Sacral Chakra, popped in and asked, “Why don`t you write about jaguars as spirit animals?” So, today, I will write about jaguar.

Jaguar is sacred to indigenous people in South and Central America.  They call it “the animal that kills with a bite”`because the Jaguar kills its prey with a single bite.  Jaguar makes a loud coughing noise.  She is unable to roar.

In Munay-Ki, Jaguar is a totem that reflects integrity, steadfastness, truth, and the ability to blend in with the day or the night.  Her skills include climbing, running steadily for hours at a slow trot, and keen night vision.  The people with this totem or spirit animal, are generally agile, loners and leaders, and very good orators.  Most Jaguar people are writers and thinkers, and do something to change the world.

Jaguar likes to live in caves, close to water, much like the hermits or isolated monks do. If she appears to you, she may be reminding you that in the Northern hemisphere, people should be moving into a hibernation or isolation stage in their life.  It is a time of regeneration.  This is a time to heal, to refresh the mind, and to contemplate one’s next steps.  When we don’t take this time, people get out of balance.

From Judy – Passion In All Things

image

Cartoon by Hugh MacLeod at www.gapingvoid.com

Check out his work – it is brilliant!

The main concern that my clients have in their lives is “how do I stay in balance?”  This is a valid concern for most people because of the hectic pace of work and how much work time moves in to our personal/family time.  As a former consultant for Microsoft, I can tell you that when I travelled, my family time was limited to weekends, and the phone calls home.  That is definitely not balance!

What I have learned, however, is that if what I am doing is my passion, then the life force that the passion provides my mind and my body helps to keep me in balance because I am excited and joyful about life.  In that excitement, I share with my family and friends. I take time to rejuvenate. I separate work, home, and “me” time.

If you are feeling drained and out of balance, perhaps you need to identify what your passion is?  Are you living it? Does passion show up in your life currently as rage or seething anger?  Do you yell at your employees and your family?

Take a deep breath!  If someone is pushing your buttons, remember that you installed the buttons – they did not.

You are invited to .......OUR 6TH WINTER SOLSTICE CELEBRATION

This is the Winter Solstice celebration that honours the long night, and welcomes the Mother Goddess to give birth to her child, the SUN. We set our intentions for Winter Solstice is a magical season . . . one that marks the journey from this year to the next, journeys of the spirit from one world to the next, and the magic of birth, death, and rebirth.  We ask to shed that which no longer serves us, set our vision of what we desire for the next year, and take the winter to dream it into being.  Join us for ceremony, including initiation into the Order of Melchezedek ( Archangel of sacred geometry).  After the ceremony, we will have a potluck dinner and lots of time to visit with our friends.  Note that if the weather is cold or windy, the celebration will be indoors.

Ancestors Speak – Great Danger

image image

Rain is the first image

Fish is the second image

(figure from The Ancestors’ Path by John Lavinnder)

When I asked what was important for me to share with the world today, the above sequence came up in “The Ancestors’ Path.  I pondered the teaching.  The Season reflected is “winter”.  The direction is “north”, and the moon phase is “waxing or growing” (and the new moon was last night), with the intent that people understand and are motivated.

The translation of this is that some rain is good for the Earth.  Too much rain, and the people and the land suffer.  The underlying message is that bad leaders make life difficult, and war like.  In fact, on message says that “unscrupulous leaders use war to cover bad leadership.”  Those of us that live in North America have seen a lot of bad leadership over the last decade.  We see it in our government and in our corporations.  We see it in the way large pharmaceuticals and automotive companies control government, and work with government to take away some of the freedoms of people.  We see it in how the financial businesses gouge people for interest and user fees.  There is not any reciprocity.  That means that all of the inequities must end… they are pouring down on us, and we are drowning.

The action plan for this path is “escape from tyranny”, or “take a risk that moves you beyond the control of others”.

My wish for each of us is that we become free from unrelenting financial burdens created by bending the truth, and by the masking of outcomes… for example, how mortgages are sold.

May each of us move to independence in thought and action.

Tarot Discussion – Solomon’s Guidance

I received an early Christmas gift this year from a friend.  She gave me a new deck of tarot cards for my collection.  They are called, “The Grail Tarot”.   This deck was written by John Matthews and illustrated by Giovanni Caselli.  Aside from the fascinating illustrations, the deck traces the journey of a knight on a quest, similar to the quest of Sir Perceval as written by the French poet, Chretien de Troyes.

To see what the deck was about, I asked a question.  What is that I need to be conscious of over the next week or so.  The answer was the following set of three cards, for Past, Present and Future.

image

(Pictures are the actual cards designed by Giovanni Caselli)

4  Solomon                       Brother of Lances        Two of Lances

The reading (starting with Solomon) generally talks about the fact that I have had good  guidance, so far, on my journey.  It indicates that it is the intention of the Seeker (me) to overcome all obstacles.  Next, the Brother of Lances shows that in the present, he is guided by Angels.  The card also indicates that help will always come to the Seeker, and that miracles, signs, and good things will happen.  The Two of Lances is the future and what to beware of.  This card talks about the “hard road” that a Seeker walks, and that self doubt is sometimes an issue, and that often the Seeker becomes disheartened, and loses focus.  The future will always be uncertain, however, manageable if one stays the course.

Perhaps this reading resonates for some of you at this time.  If so, many blessings.

Angels Speak – The Constraint of Time

image

Picture of Time from www.mindhacks.com

Many times in my writing, I have said that when something happens three times, I know that I am supposed to pay attention, and that probably a lesson of some sort is coming.  Well, my newest “three of” happens to be around time.

The first message was a quote:

Before you asked me, I understood just what time was. Now I'm not so sure...—Socrates

The second message was the song “If I could put time in a Bottle” by Jim Croce… and the words in the first two verses also have meaning

If I could save Time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save every day
'Til Eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure and then,
Again, I would spend them with you
CHORUS:
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go
Through time with

And, the third message that came in an email, advertising a conference.  The portion of the ad that caught my attention was,

Physicists are on the brink of breaking down the space time barrier at the CERN - The Large Hadron Collider, but for some time prior to this, other scientists were actually breaking the time space barrier with the mind, using the mind to view objects and events at a distance in another time. One of the principle innovators in this area is Russell Targ

I know that Great Spirit wants me to do something with this information on time, and that it has importance for my life, and probably for the lives of others.

To get the meaning of this information, I simply have to sit in mediation for a period of time, until the answer comes in through clear focus.

Send good thoughts my way to help me do this.

Spirit Animal - White Deer of Boulder Junction

At Christmas time, we enjoy all things white – snow, snowmen, white Christmas trees, white angels, white popcorn strings, white lights, and presents tied up in white. The United Church actually has a ‘white gift Sunday’ where parishioners wrap up toys for children in white paper. These gifts are then distributed to children  in hospitals and orphanages, or to families that have had a bad year.

image

White deer interview with movie and pictures, and discussion with the authors of “White Deer: Ghosts of the Forest”. Photographs by Jeff Richter; text by John Bates. -From www.pbs.org

White, in our world, represents, gentleness, innocence, kindness, purity, and even perfection. For some, white represents cleanliness and safety. As an example, think of the legendary “white knight” in stories that saves the people and defeats all evil. Indigenous people around the world tend to label any animals or plants or fish or birds that are white, as “spirit animals”. In this context, it means that the animal is other worldly, and not of this time and space.

In this reality, however, all over the world, more white animals are showing up. And, in Boulder Junction, white deer are showing up in herds. Some Shaman believe that these herds are balancing off the darkness in parts of the world, because the colour white does represent all the characteristics mentioned earlier. Many believe that a white deer is a messenger from the Divine. Or that the white deer intercedes when there is danger. If you saw the Harry Potter movies, you will remember the white deer.   To read the rest of this article, see the Angels December newsletter at http://www.angelsandancestors.com/newsletter/news0912.pdf

Judy Speaks – Everyone Feels Energy

I have been having several conversations around energy, with different people over the last two weeks.  Some people maintain that they cannot feel energy.  Others – healers – say that they meet with much resistance to the energy work that they do.  And, there are those who post anonymous vicious comments about various healers and energy workers.  The events started me thinking about how differently people can feel energy.

image

Picture of energy flying up from US… from www.lockheedmartin.com

From the time we are born, we can feel the energy of our mother’s love or disapproval.  As children, we feel the energy of the relationship between our parents. And, we feel the energy of the warmth of the Sun, that, by the way, is traveling about 93 million miles to touch our skin. This means that we can feel energy from afar, and that energy that is created at a distance, can travel and effect a change in the person that it hits.

From a healer’s point of view, this means that distance healing is real, and that it does work.  Even though the person receiving the healing energy cannot see the healer create the energy, the process is like the sun creating energy and sending it out.  No one actually sees the Sun create the energy, however, over time, everyone on the planet agrees that the energy is real.

If the energy that the Sun sends out is real, then, by application of logic, all stars and planets send out energy.  This is particularly true of the Moon, the closest celestial object to Earth.  The Moon does not send out the same type of warmth as the Sun. However, if you go and stand outside for an hour under a full moon, then you too will feel the energy. The Moon is an average of 239,000 miles from the Earth according to www.nasa.gov.  So, the effects of the energy of the Moon should be stronger than the Sun, because it is closer.

 image

Mosaic of the near side of the moon as taken by the Clementine star trackers. The images were taken on March 15, 1994. In this view, north is up. The bright crater near the bottom of the image is the Tycho. www.nasa.gov

We already know that the Moon’s energy has an influence on Earth because wise men, philosophers, and now modern day scientists have proven that the Moon’s energy affects the winds and the tides.  Medical people will tell you that the Moon’s energy also affects many people, causing anxiety, sleeplessness, and even profound personality changes.

So if the energy of the Moon can cause physical and mental or emotional changes in people, why is it difficult to believe that people can cause energetic changes in other people?  Again, a behaviourist will tell you that the energy of the “one bad apple” person in a work environment or class room will often quickly change the energy of the other people in the area, bringing them down to that energy level.  The same is true of the energy of a very charismatic leader or speaker.  The energy in the room, and of the people, will rise to that level.

Again, if we have this kind of proof that the energy of one person can affect the energy of another, why do so many people discount energy healing?

Buddha Speaks – Relaxing By Stressing

image

Meditation picture from www.ehow.com

One of the things that I have learned about meditation is – there are many more ways to meditate than one could practice in this lifetime.  I quite enjoy the Buddhist meditations.  Here is one that I thought would be a good one for these times that seem to be creating a lot of stress for people.

           *****************************

RELAXING BY STRESSING

A very effective method to relax the body by stressing all the muscles, holding that 5 to 10 seconds, and then releasing the tension.

1.  Sit or lie in a relaxed way.
2.  Put an extremely tense expression on the face, straining as many face muscles as possible. (If you practise Yoga, then you might use the Lion’s Pose here.)

3. Take a deep breath and forcefully hold it. (Use a count of three to start with, and then, as you practice, increase the count for holding the breath to ten.)
4. Now slowly release the breath and the tension of all the face muscles, feel as if you breathe out all stress.
5.  Inhale deeply again and stress all neck and shoulder muscles, and then let go. (If you feel slightly dizzy, simply keep breathing until the feeling passes.)
6. Inhale, make fists and stress the arms, and then let go.
7.  Inhale, stress chest, belly and back and then let go.

8.  Inhale, stress buttocks, legs and feet and then let go.
9.  If you still feel tension at some places, just stay relaxed. Don't hold the breath now and slowly breath out, and release all the tension while breathing out.

Now, sit in this moment of relaxation, and ask your body to enjoy the feeling, and to remember the feeling, so that your body can recall it at will. Note that this will take some practice.

Spirit Speaks – Thoughts on Humility

This picture is from www.keepbelieving.com

image

Humility is not passivity. Rather, it is an utter lack of self-importance. The individuals who embody the concept of humility appreciate that each human being on the planet occupies a unique place on an infinite spectrum of development. From DailyOm.com and the article “Equal Worth – Humility”

I read the above passage from the article on Equal Worth, and I was dumbfounded because I had just had an interesting interaction with a Naturopath Doctor in a Health and Wellness store that centered on the idea of “humility”.  He kept trying to tell me that I was buying the wrong thing even though he had just met me, had never examined me, and wasn’t even aware of the inherited condition that I have. I realized that there was a lesson in the situation, and certainly, if I had not had the meeting with him, I would not have been as aware of the quote above.

So, here are a couple of more ideas about “humility”.  What do you think is a good definition of humility?  I would love to hear your definition, or story.  And, with your permission, I will share it with others.

                           *********************

Whatever our level of knowledge of a thing, that knowledge is imperfect. This realization should lead us to openness to other ideas and humility about our own. There is a type of "expert" who purports to have all the answers. The expert looks down on all those who have not seen the light and has scant patience for other ideas. Such experts often look for followers who gain their identity by association with the expert. It is a symbiotic relationship: you agree that I'm the expert and I'll endorse your right-mindedness for recognizing such.  by Hal Helms and From the article “If you meet Buddha on the road, Kill him” www.coldfusioncommunity.org/profiles/blog/list?q=buddha

                              *********************

The Gift of Humility
Illness also deepens our humility. At first, cancer seems like a terrible humiliation, and to a certain degree it is. It is the most dramatic demonstration of our ultimate fragility and weakness. This gift of greater humility allows us to see ourselves as we are, freed from all our illusions. Humility cuts through our pretensions, our aspirations, our goals, and our attitudes toward others. Humility born of suffering, illness, and emotional turmoil serves our growth, inspiring us to make a change, to embrace a subtler form of psychological and spiritual well-being. This humility accelerates inner growth by traversing the darkness of spiritual trial and the shadow of death. It opens us up to receive the benefits of this darkness. Humility makes us available to God, and the humility of heart promoted by suffering and illness concentrates its power on our inner struggle to surrender to the Divine.  by Wayne Teasdale from “Tough Grace: Understanding Suffering - SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION” www.grandtimes.com/articles/Tough_Grace.html

                  **********************

I love how Spirit works, and how quickly information is coming through.  I am certainly going to watch my behaviour and make sure that I am humble in my actions.

Spirit Animal – Snow Tiger

Tiger has been appearing in many people’s dreams lately – as an orange and black cat, as a white and black cat, and sometimes as an almost black cat.Perhaps Tiger is your power animal – that is, the animal that reflects something in you, that you need to work with, and to understand.  In many traditions, at a time of crisis, the power animal will lend you the power that it carries.

It is the Snow Tiger, the white and black cat that is at its peak of power at this time (December 2009). The two colours, white and black, carry all of the colours of the prism, and therefore, the rainbow.  Our Ancestors use to call it the “rainbow cat” because of the way that the sun reflected off its coat, and seemed to make little rainbows.  The explanation, of course, is that the cat, who likes to hang out in the high, cold altitudes, actually has ice crystals in its fur that are the reflectors for the light.

image

From the website of alexandgregory.com – Many thanks!

“Bengal Tiger on snow.”

The Snow Tiger is showing up now, to help bring down the light that has been accumulating at the tops of the mountains, and to ground the light with mankind. This extra light will help everyone absorb even more light.

Tiger represents one of the twelve signs of the Chinese Zodiac because of the crown that it wears over its third eye, on its forehead. Because of its regal characteristics, we should understand that Tiger is a solitary being that wanders great distances for food and for curiosity.  The chief lessons for people that carry Tiger power are around maintaining focus, around patience, and around the element of surprise – using surprise against others, and in turn, being caught by surprise.  The underlying lesson then, is to be mindful of becoming too complacent.

In honouring the power of Tiger, Chinese medicine practitioners use all the parts of the tiger’s body for different healing remedies.  Our Ancestors believed that anyone with Tiger power was a natural healer of others, and, as well, could heal himself/herself very quickly.  Tiger power people were excellent hunters, and could lie patiently waiting for prey.

Watch for more info on Tiger in the days ahead.

Spirit Speaks - Make the Unconscious Conscious

Picture of the Unconscious from Entertainment.webshots.com

Make the Unconscious Conscious
In this process of Self-discovery, you have to account for all the missing pieces of yourself, even those you labelled negative. You can no longer choose to ignore these missing parts by creating a shadow over them. You must make another plan for the negative that does not involve suppression, avoidance or denial. On the understanding that the polarities unify into a higher vibratory state, consider making a commitment to make the unconscious conscious, which will set the process of your growth in motion. This releases you from the need to stuff anything into the unconscious. ~Leslie Temple-Thurston www.corelight.org

Several days ago, the Zen Tarot card that came up was “Consciousness”. When I saw this passage by Leslie Temple-Thurston, my first thought was “Aha! This is the message of the Zen card.  We are now in a time when we can no longer suppress what we judge to be our darkness.  We must embrace all of ourselves.”

To reinforce this, over the past two days, all sorts of thoughts have been popping into my mind of actions or situations where I judged that I had not acted nobly or with compassion, or perhaps I believed I had been down right cruel.  As I took these thoughts and examined the situation from a place of greater maturity, I now understand that sometimes these situations were set up by my higher self to give me an opportunity to learn. Therefore, the situation was perfect!  That means, it is not a place of darkness for me.  I am truly grateful for that!

Blessings,

From Judy – A Great Christmas Story – Earth Angel

I have been guided, for what ever reason, to post the following story, for everyone to read.  Now, I have read this story before, and I find it a very good example of the typical “good Samaritan”.  However, I realized, as I read the story again, that the gas station owner is really an “Earth Angel”.

image********************************************************

Gas station picture by Q. T. Luong

The old man sat in his gas station on a cold Christmas Eve.  He hadn't been anywhere in years since his wife had passed away.  He had no decorations, no tree, no lights. It was just another day to him. He didn't hate Christmas, just couldn't find a reason to celebrate. There were no children in his life.  His wife had gone.

He was sitting there looking at the snow that had been falling for the last hour and wondering what it was all about when the door opened and a homeless man stepped through. Instead of throwing the man out, George, Old George as he was known by his customers, told the man to come and sit by the space heater and warm up.

"Thank you, but I don't mean to intrude," said the stranger.  "I see you're busy. I'll just go"

"Not without something hot in your belly," George turned and opened a wide mouth Thermos and handed it to the stranger.   "It ain't much, but it's hot and tasty. Stew.  Made it myself.  When you're done there's coffee and it's fresh."

Just at that moment he heard the "ding" of the driveway bell.  "Excuse me, be right back," George said.
There in the driveway was an old 53 Chevy. Steam was rolling out of the front.

The driver was panicked.  "Mister, can you help me!" said the driver with a deep Spanish accent.  "My wife is with child and my car is broken."

George opened the hood.  It was bad.  The block looked cracked from the cold; the car was dead. "You ain't going in this thing," George said as he turned away.

"But mister. Please help...."The door of the office closed behind George as he went in. George went to the office wall and got the keys to his old truck, and went back outside. He walked around the building and opened the garage, started the truck and drove it around to where the couple was waiting.

"Here, you can borrow my truck," he said. "She ain't the best thing you ever looked at, but she runs real good."  George helped put the woman in the truck and watched as it sped off into the night. George turned and walked back inside the office.

"Glad I loaned em the truck. Their tires were shot too. That 'ol truck has brand new tires........" George thought he was talking to the stranger, but the man had gone. The thermos was on the desk, empty with a used coffee cup beside it.

"Well, at least he got something in his belly," George thought. George went back outside to see if the old Chevy would start. It cranked slowly, but it started. He pulled it into the garage where the truck had been.  He thought he would tinker with it for something to do. Christmas Eve meant no customers. He discovered the block hadn't cracked, it was just the bottom hose on the radiator.

"Well, I can fix this," he said to himself. So he put a new one on. "Those tires ain't gonna get 'em through the winter either."  He took the snow treads off of his wife's old Lincoln. They were like new and he wasn't going to drive the car.

As he was working he heard a shot being fired. He ran outside and beside a police car an officer lay on the cold ground.  Bleeding from the left shoulder, the officer moaned, "Help me."

George helped the officer inside as he remembered the training he had received in the Army as a medic.  He knew the wound needed attention.

"Pressure to stop the bleeding," he thought.  The laundry company had been there that morning and had left clean shop towels.  He used those and duct tape to bind the wound.  "Hey, they say duct tape can fix anythin'," he said, trying to make the policeman feel at ease. "Something for pain," George thought. All he had was the pills he used for his back.  "These ought to work."  He put some water in a cup and gave the policeman the pills. "You hang in there. I'm going to get you an ambulance." George said, but the phone was dead.

"Maybe I can get one of your buddies on that there talk box out in your police car."  He went out only to find that a bullet had gone into the dashboard destroying the two way radio. He went back in to find the policeman sitting up.
"Thanks," said the officer. "You could have left me there.  The guy that shot me is still in the area."

George sat down beside him. "I would never leave an injured man in the Army and I ain't gonna leave you." George pulled back the bandage to check for bleeding. "Looks worse than what it is.  Bullet passed right through 'ya.  Good thing it missed the important stuff though. I think with time your gonna be right as rain."

George got up and poured a cup of coffee. "How do you take it?" he asked.

"None for me," said the officer.

"Oh, yer gonna drink this. Best in the city."  Then George added: "Too bad I ain't got no donuts."

The officer laughed and winced at the same time.
The front door of the office flew open. In burst a young man with a gun.

"Give me all your cash!  Do it now!" the young man yelled.  His hand was shaking and George could tell that he had never done anything like this before.

"That's the guy that shot me!" exclaimed the officer.

"Son, why are you doing this?" asked George. "You need to put the cannon away. Somebody else might get hurt."

The young man was confused. "Shut up old man, or I'll shoot you, too. Now give me the cash!"

The cop was reaching for his gun.  "Put that thing away," George said to the cop.  "We got one too many in here now."
He turned his attention to the young man. "Son, it's Christmas Eve.  If you need the money, well then, here. It ain't much but it's all I got.  Now put that pee shooter away."
George pulled $150 out of his pocket and handed it to the young man, reaching for the barrel of the gun at the same time.

The young man released his grip on the gun, fell to his knees and began to cry. "I'm not very good at this am I?  All I wanted was to buy something for my wife and son," he went on. "I've lost my job.  My rent is due.  My car got repossessed last week..."

George handed the gun to the cop. "Son, we all get in a bit of squeeze now and then. The road gets hard sometimes, but we make it through the best we can."

He got the young man to his feet, and sat him down on a chair across from the cop. "Sometimes we do stupid things."  George handed the young man a cup of coffee. "Being stupid is one of the things that makes us human.  Comin' in here with a gun ain't the answer. Now sit there and get warm and we'll sort this thing out."

The young man had stopped crying.  He looked over to the cop. "Sorry I shot you . It just went off. I'm sorry officer."
"Shut up and drink your coffee." the cop said.
George could hear the sounds of sirens outside. A police car and an ambulance skidded to a halt. Two cops came through the door, guns drawn.

"Chuck! You ok?" one of the cops asked the wounded officer.
"Not bad for a guy who took a bullet.  How did you find me?"
"GPS locator in the car. Best thing since sliced bread. Who did this?" the other cop asked as he approached the young man.

Chuck answered him, "I don't know. The guy ran off into the dark. Just dropped his gun and ran."

George and the young man both looked puzzled at each other.  "That guy works here," the wounded cop continued.

"Yep," George said.  "Just hired him this morning.  Boy lost his job."

The paramedics came in and loaded Chuck onto the stretcher. The young man leaned over the wounded cop and whispered, "Why?"

Chuck just said, "Merry Christmas, boy. And you too, George, and thanks for everything."

"Well, looks like you got one doozy of a break there. That ought to solve some of your problems." George went into the back room and came out with a box. He pulled out a ring box.  "Here you go. Something for the little woman.  I don't think Martha would mind.  She said it would come in handy some day."

The young man looked inside to see the biggest diamond ring he ever saw.

"I can't take this," said the young man. "It means something to you."

"And now it means something to you," replied George. "I got my memories. That's all I need."

George reached into the box again. A toy airplane, a racing car and a little metal truck appeared next. They were toys that the oil company had left for him to sell. "Here's something for that little man of yours."

The young man began to cry again as he handed back the $150 that the old man had handed him earlier. "And what are you supposed to buy Christmas dinner with? You keep that, too.  Count it as part of your first week's pay." George said. "Now git home to your family."

The young man turned with tears streaming down his face. "I'll be here in the morning for work, if that job offer is still good."

"Nope.  I'm closed Christmas day," George said.  "See ya the day after."

George turned around to find that the stranger had returned.  "Where'd you come from? I thought you left?"
"I have been here. I have always been here," said the stranger.  "You say you don't celebrate Christmas. Why?"
"Well, after my wife passed away I just couldn't see what all the bother was. Puttin' up a tree and all seemed a waste of a good pine tree.  Bakin' cookies like I used to with Martha just wasn't the same by myself and besides I was getting a little chubby."

The stranger put his hand on George's shoulder.  "But you do celebrate the holiday, George. You gave me food and drink and warmed me when I was cold and hungry. The woman with child will bear a son and he will become a great doctor.  The policeman you helped will go on to save 19 people from being killed by terrorists. The young man who tried to rob you will become a rich man and share his wealth with many people.  That is the spirit of the season and you keep it as good as any man."

George was taken aback by all this stranger had said. "And how do you know all this?" asked the old man.

"Trust me, George. I have the inside track on this sort of thing.  And when your days are done you will be with Martha again."  The stranger moved toward the door. "If you will excuse me, George, I have to go now.  I have to go home where there is a big celebration planned."

George watched as the man's old leather jacket and his torn pants turned into a white robe. A golden light began to fill the room.  "You see, George,------- it's My birthday …… Merry Christmas!”

Tarot Discussion – Osho Zen Tarot – Card of Consciousness

image

This is the card of Consciousness, one of the MIND cards in the deck

I have had a very full several days.  The weather has been cold, however, we have shopped, driven our friend to the airport, enjoyed the company of friends at a Christmas party, and drove into the mountains.

With all of this activity, every night, I smudge and use a “cutting cords” meditation and an “energy balancing” meditation to smooth out any rough edges from the day.

This morning, I was wondering what this week was about for me, and I pulled the card “Consciousness”.  That this card had a huge Buddha on it felt absolutely right to me.  And, the message was very clear.

Most of the cards in this suit of the mind are either cartoon-like or troubled, because the influence of the mind in our lives is generally either ridiculous or oppressive. But this card of Consciousness shows a vast Buddha figure. He is so expansive he has gone even beyond the stars, and above his head is pure emptiness. He represents the consciousness that is available to all who become a master of the mind and can use it as the servant it is meant to be. When you choose this card, it means that there is a crystal clarity available right now, detached, rooted in the deep stillness that lies at the core of your being. There is no desire to understand from the perspective of the mind--the understanding you have now is existential, whole, in harmony with the pulse of life itself. Accept this great gift, and share it. – Osho

I wish all of you the moments of stillness that are needed to bring clarity.

Spirit Animal – A Legend About Raven

image

A picture of a “common” raven from www.birding.in

Earlier today, I published a blog about Spirit Animal – Raven and how it flew ahead of me.  Coincidently, the following legend was shared with me… a legend about Raven.  The legend shows that there is nothing common about Raven.  In fact, Raven is one of the few birds that knows how to play, even as an adult.  And, it will play “tag – trying to pull the hair in the tail of an animal, especially a dog”, “steal the stick where one enterprising raven finds a stick, makes it a treasure, and the other ravens chase it”, and the dangerous “bombs away – where the raven will drop something on dogs, cats, coyotes, or even humans”.

Enjoy this legend about Raven’s intelligence.

"A Squamish Legend - Seagull, Raven and The Daylight Box” ~Shirley Heint~

When the world was created, everything was in darkness. All the daylight was kept in one little box. That one little box was hidden in Seagull's house, and Seagull kept it all to himself. Now Raven, who was Seagull's brother, thought that this just wasn't fair. It was so dark and cold without any daylight. If only he could get that box. But how? Raven sat down and thought and thought.

A Ha!! He had a plan, a great plan. That night, when the tide was low. Raven went down to the beach and picked up some sea urchins. A sea urchin has a hard shell with little sharp spines all over it. After he had eaten these sea urchins, he quietly tip-toed up to Seagull's house. Quietly he spread the sharp spiny shells all around the door step, then quickly he crept back home. Next morning, Raven strolled over to see his younger brother. Seagull was in bed. His feet were all swollen. Poor Seagull.

"Oh my! What happened to you?" Cried Raven "Did you gather some sea urchins last night?" asked Seagull "Why yes, I did," replied Raven, looking surprised. "Well I guess those children of yours went and dropped their shells all around my front steps, I stepped on them and now look at my feet, just full of thorns. "Let me have a look," said Raven.

"Put your feet up here." Seagull lifted up his feet. "Now how do you expect me to see in this darkness? Open up your daylight box a little, Seagull." Seagull opened up his box a tiny, tiny bit. Raven had a knife and kept jabbing Seagull with it, in the wrong place. "Ow! Ow! Ouch!" yelled Seagull. "Well, if you give me a little more light I could see what I was doing," complained Raven. "Give me more light!" Seagull opened the box a bit more. Raven kept pricking and jabbing Seagull's foot with his knife. "Oh please, Raven, leave my feet alone. You can't take the thorns out; You're killing me." Seagull brought the box closer. Quick as lightening, Raven threw off the lid, and then..., the daylight excepted, and spread all over the room. Then outside it went, spreading it's lovely warm glow wider and wider till daylight spread all over the whole world. Seagull saw his beautiful daylight escaping him, and he began to cry and cry. And he is still crying for his daylight today. Just listen sometime, you can hear him, too.

Spirit Animal – Raven Flies Before Me

Yesterday, I was travelling west on highway 22x, into Kananaskis country.  The weather was cold, with a brisk wind at times. However, the Sun was shining so it seemed like a glorious day.

image

A raven playing in the snow from http://digg.com/pets_animals/Ravens_playing_in_snow

As I drove closer to the mountains, I thought, “Spirit has been wanting me to go into the mountains for several months now.  It finally has created a situation where I must go.”

The purpose of my trip was to go to a retreat center and spend one and half hours talking about the way that I channel messages as well as spend some time channelling a message for the group.  I was driving/aligning with my life mission and Spirit’s intent for me.  Spirit wanted me in the mountains so that I could absorb more light more easily than I can in the city.  Things like our business, EMF interference, or a plane flying overhead, can deflect the light frequencies.

As I had the thought about my trip, a huge Raven flew in front of my van.  Now, ravens are not unusual in Alberta.  However, it was cold, and other birds simply were not flying out in the open spaces. I thought, “Wow! I wonder if that is for me?”

Almost at my thought, the Raven turned and flew back at me, before veering back to its original course which seemed to parallel the highway.  Raven, however, could fly in a straight line while I had to follow the road.  Sometimes, she was sitting waiting for me.  She was with me until I pulled into the retreat driveway.  She had done her job, and knew that I was safely at my destination. I was grateful for her company and her patience.  She was my “Raven in the Cold”.

Then, this morning, I found the words to a beautiful song “Raven in the Snow”.  The words are below.

Phoimageto of Raven by Neil Fifer

           Raven In The Snow

(Song written by Bill Miller and John Flanagan)

With the wings of sorrow, I have taken flight
Cloaked in the darkness like a thief in the night
I have watched the farmer planting in his field
And known that what he sows, is there for me to steal

I take what I need, never more, never more
In the art of survival, there's no rich there's no poor
Time passes by, kingdoms come and go
I've seen it all, I'm a raven in the snow

I have watched the seekers searching for their gold
The rape of the land, generations unfold
Nations of the world, their rise and their fall
I've watched it all, I'm a raven in the snow

I have heard the crying, wailing in the wind
Empty words and broken promises, time and time again
Song of the sparrow, call of the crow
Echo in the mountain and the valley's below

The scarecrow and the hunter, can't keep me away
The winter winds a blowin' couldn't lead me astray
You can separate the flock still my colors would show
I will stand out, like a raven in the snow.

Ancestors Speak – Lord of the Cold

Santa Claus meets Chyskhaan, Lord of the Cold, in the village of Tomtor in the remote Sakhar region of Russia  Picture: WENN

I was quite intrigued by this picture of a modern day representation of Chyskhaan, also known as Lord of the Frost or Lord of the Cold.  I could not find any detailed information on him.  So, I decided to ask my guides for some help.  Here is what they said….

The Lord of Cold has always existed!  His responsibility is to keep the cold confined to specific latitudes, to specific heights, and to specific land masses.  He keeps the Arctic and the Antarctic pristine with cold and snow.  At Yule, the longest night and shortest day, people in the north gathered at shrines built in his name, and offered gifts to him to take away the cold and to allow the sun to return.  The gifts were left at the shrine.  Chyskhaan would gather up the gifts and redistribute them to those that were in need, keeping for himself what he needed to honour the magic he would work over the next several months.  His magic would chase away the night and bring forth the sun.  At the same time, he controlled how quickly the ice and snow would melt in order to avoid flooding out the villages and people that depended on him.  He also buried sacred places beneath the snow so that they would be undetected by those that would seek to use the knowledge for personal goals and for power.  As the people in the world are becoming more enlightened, he is relaxing his hold on the cold to allow discovery of new information at the appropriate time.

I find this rather a fascinating legend because it seems quite a contrast to the UN’s statements that global warming is causing the problems of melting ice caps.
