Letting Go

image

Sometimes, it feels like life is a bit much.  Everyone has expectations about what we should or should not do, how we should or should not live, and what we should or should not do as a career.

Sometimes, it feels like there is not any place where one can do what they want to do.  It feels like everything is about doing what you HAVE to do.

Sometimes, you need to take a time out.  Go and spend a night in a hotel or B & B, and use the time to think things through.

Angels Speak - Responsibility

image

The discussion was about why we need to blame someone when things go wrong.  The discussion was about where we learned blame.  Of the ten people in the circle, eight of ten said that it was learned from their parents.  The parents blamed each other – they said things like "it is your fault".  Two of the ten said they learned to blame from teachers in school.

This seems to indicate that the act of blaming someone is a learned behavior.  What can be learned, can also be unlearned.  This does not mean that one should take responsibility for another's action; it means that one can take empowerment by accepting the role to fix the issue.

Angels Speak–Fixing Problems

image

Life seems to be filled with all sizes of problems.  We often think that others create the problems.  However, that sort of thinking usually does not resolve the problems.  The solution, according to Louise Hay and the Angels, is to let go of thinking that something is a problem.  Accepting that things just "are" can be very freeing.

So, the next time that you think something is a problem, let it go.  Do not react, do not judge, do not try and fix it—let it be.  This is a strategy that works most of the time.

Where does it need some tweaking?  Well, if you are in a business, and you have an unhappy customer, ignoring the situation will not make it go away.  Businesses have to deal with unhappy customers.  In this situation, don't see it as a problem; see it as a chance to be creative so that the solution can be used again and again.

Angels Speak–The New Generation–The Founders

image

The Angels tell us that those children born after 1999, are very special.  The name that MTV has given them is "The Founders".  Other mystics call them "The Builders".  The two names tell us that these are the folks that will shape the changes in the world.

As part of caring for your self, get to know some of these young Founders.  You will find that they are very different then the Millennials.  At a very young age, they have new ideas bout fair play, health care, work, life, and death.

They are excited about their future and the future of the world.  They will help you feel young again.

Recipe – Easy Breakfast Casserole

image

This easy, gluten free casserole is a favorite for me for either breakfast or lunch.  After you make it a couple of times, experiment with adding different ingredients to make it your special dish.

Serves: 9-12

Cooking Time: 35 min

Ingredients
  • 1 pound pork sausage (plain or sage flavored)
  • 1 1/2 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • 3 cups frozen hash browns, slightly thawed (about 12 ounces)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (about 8 ounces), divided
  • 3/4 cup gluten free Bisquick
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • A few grinds of black pepper or 4-5 drops hot sauce
  • 2 cups milk (skim, 2%, or whole)
  • 6 eggs
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Spray a 9 x 13 baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a 10-inch skillet set over medium heat, crumble the sausage and cook, stirring and breaking up with a spoon, for 4 minutes. Add bell pepper and onion and continue to cook and stir another 4 minutes. Drain off accumulated fat and spread the sausage mixture in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle the potatoes over the top of the meat, then sprinkle 1 1/2 cups of the cheese on top.
  4. In a medium bowl, beat the eggs and then add the Bisquick, salt, and pepper or hot sauce. Mix until smooth, then add the milk and stir to combine. Gently pour over the other ingredients in the baking dish. Bake for 30 minutes, then sprinkle the rest of the cheese on top and continue to cook another 5 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center of the dish comes out clean.
  5. Let stand 5 to 10 minutes before serving.

Angels Speak - Exhaustion

image

How many times have you said, "I am Exhausted!", this month?  So many people are saying this over and over.  Part of it is that we do not get enough sleep for our own regeneration.  (Some of us need ten hours a night!)  And, part of it is that we give away too much of ourselves during the day to our work, our friends, our spouse, our children, and our parents.

Most of us do not go to bed at dusk, and some of us get up before dawn to get to the office.  Some of us caffeine ourselves to restlessness, and some of us use alcohol or other medications to slow us down.

We are doing for others that the only time we can carve out for ourselves is early morning or late at night.

Food Wise - What You Eat

image

All of us need to be mindful of what we put in our mouths.  Fake, free, fast, and cheap are all adjectives that are used to sell us prepackaged food filled with preservatives.  Funny, though, the preservatives will not preserve us; rather, they break us down.

We can choose food that is healthy, healing, and wholesome.  We can find ways to make meals fun.  Making food is time consuming, yes, so use that time as a form of meditation.  Use it for rest or for growth.

Buddha Speaks - Sending Love

image

As part of the month of "Be Kind To Yourself" the poster emphasizes sending yourself love.  I have been reading several stories about people who send themselves doses of self loathing, all because they were taught that they were worthless.

When others put us down, we need to remember that it is their problem, not ours.  Imagine a duck going up to another duck and telling them that they are worthless – not going to happen!

Make a list of all the ways that you can show love to yourself.  This helps us to understand what we do for others, and how we can use that for ourselves.

Angels Speak - Perfection is Self Criticism

image

The Angels have been sending messages out all over the world reminding everyone that it is okay to be yourself and it is okay to do a task to the level of your satisfaction.  The idea of perfection is different for everyone.

The salmon returns home to the stream where it hatched to spawn. It does not stop because it cannot be perfect going up a small waterfall or through a small tributary.  The salmon simply keeps going.

We have compassion for the salmon, but lack compassion for our selves.  What irony!

Recipe–Slow Cooker Chicken Noodle Soup

image

It has been raining and a bit on the chilly side for this time of year.  I like to make soup when the weather is unpredictable.  Here is a great recipe that I found at http://www.cookingclassy.com/2013/11/slow-cooker-chicken-noodle-soup/

I substitute rice noodles for the egg noodles.

Enjoy.

Slow Cooker Chicken Noodle Soup

- Prep Time: 15 minutes - Cook Time: 7 hours - Yield: 4 - 5 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 5 medium carrots, peeled and chopped (1 3/4 cups)
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped (1 1/2 cups)
  • 4 stalks celery, chopped (1 1/4 cups)
  • 3 - 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 6 cups low-sodium chicken broth (3 - 15 oz cans)
  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp dried rosemary, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp dried sage (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp celery seed, finely crushed*
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups uncooked wide egg noodles
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • Saltine crackers or parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)

Directions

  • To a slow cooker, add chicken (un-cut), diced carrots, onion, celery, and garlic. Drizzle olive oil over top then add in chicken broth, water, thyme, rosemary, celery seed, bay leaves and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover and cook on low heat 6 - 7 hours.
  • Remove cooked chicken and allow to rest 10 minutes, then dice into bite size pieces. Meanwhile, add egg noodles and parsley to slow cooker. Increase temperature to high, cover and cook 10 minutes longer (or until noodles are tender). Stir in lemon juice and toss in cooked, diced chicken. Serve warm with saltine crackers or top with Parmesan cheese if desired.
  • *I just crushed the rosemary in the palm of my hand then for the celery seed, I placed it in a ziploc bag and crushed it with the flat side of a meat mallet.

Angels Speak–Up Hill and Down Hill

image

The Angels tell us that we often will choose the "easy" way to walk through life.  Perhaps you avoid walking up hill or you avoid stairs.  Do you choose a parking spot close to the door of the shop or shopping mall?  If you have an injury or illness, avoiding stress on your body makes sense.  If you are healthy, perhaps setting up little challenges for yourself is a healthy way of thinking.

The Angels say that we can build our confidence by setting destinations that challenge us.  As we build ourselves, we create an innate kindness for all living things, especially each other.  We improve others as we improve ourselves.

From a health point of view, the easiest way not be the healthiest way.  By avoiding the physical goals, our lungs, heart, legs, and brain are not as fit as they should be as we move in to senior years.

Angels Speak–Changing the World

image

Sometimes, we get a great idea and we want to change the world with it.  The great thing is that you most likely can do "it", if you do not give up.

The Angels tell us that the answer to everything is to love yourself, believe that something can be done, and to never give up.  You can stop and rest, and take a break, but you need to keep going.

Being discouraged is a lesson on patience, goal setting, and managing your own expectations.  The learning is a gift.  What ill you do to create your own  well being?  How will you help out the Universe?

Angels Speak–You Need To Stick To It

image

Whether you are working on a novel, learning a new craft, exercising, trying to loose weight, or even learn a new language, the key, say the Angels, is to stick with it.

The Angels tell us that we all give up too soon.  We believe that we should do it faster and therefore set ourselves impossible goals, and then we feel like failures.

The Angels find this funny and sad, and very hard to understand.  They watch the rest of the participants in Nature move with the timing that is usually based on the season or the life of the animal or plant.  The Angels look at humans who are trying to short cut everything.

Happy 4th of July 2016

image

Happy 4th of July 2016 to all the folks in the United States.

What a wonderful day to celebrate all the good things around us.

I wish each of you a day of celebration so that you are at peace with yourself, your family, and the rest of the world.

I wish you each a time of forgiveness so that you may let go of what you are holding on to, and that you may move forward without regrets.

This is my blessing for you.

Angels Speak - Keep The Body Clear of Toxins

clip_image002

Health experts and nutritionists tell us to be more conscious of the toxins around us  - in our food, in our water, and in the air that we breathe.  I started looking for natural ways to cleanse the body.  You can find lots of recipes on line, in magazines, and in books.

I like this recipe because it is easy and tastes okay.  And it seems to work.

Fat flush, liver cleanse, metabolism boosting detox drink

1/2 apple,

1/2 medium cucumber,

2 capfuls organic apple cider vinegar,

1/3 tsp tumeric powder

400ml water (1 ¾ cups)

Add lemon and honey if you want to add more flavour

Angels Speak - Be Kind To Yourself–Step One

image

Photo from www.stylenstylish.com

In keeping with July's theme, "Being Kind To My Self", the poster shown here gives us a way to help our heart and our body.

When we are kind to ourselves, we relieve the pressure of every day life.  Have you noticed how everyone wants their emails and messages answered instantly?  We humans do not work that way.  We are not about instant, although, more and more, we are changing.

As our concentration is interrupted all the time by our electronics, we have lost our focus and have difficulty stay tuned in to what we are doing. Our phone beeps once for mail, plays a melody for a message, and sends out different signals for Facebook or for Twitter notifications.  In a three minute interval the other day, I received 62 notifications.

Sometimes, we have to tune out our gadgets.  We know how, for we have tuned out things all of our lives.   Try it for an hour and see what you think.  You can set the timer on your phone.  (Grin)

Happy July 1st 2016–Canada Day

image

Happy Canada Day!  What a wonderful day to be alive and well!

And, speaking of wellness, the theme for July's blogs will be about self care.  It seems that we all have to have lots of encouragement to put ourselves before everything else in our lives.

Enjoy today!
