Angels Speak - Be Amazing

image

We all have the capacity to be amazing.  Sometimes, however, we need a coach to tell us what we can do to be amazing.  The poster above talks about the different tasks that each of us can do to walk down the path called amazing.

Why not start today?  Why not get your friends involved?  Why not tell people how amazing they are?

Buddha Speaks - A Dimension of Meditation

image

Moving forward with a change to your life style is a big commitment and this scares people.  They do not make the commitment. They do not change.  Some think that meditation is an hour or more chunk of time.  Really, you can meditate in five minutes, several times a day.  By a guided meditation CD.  Do little bits at a time.

You can meditate while you are walking or running.  Play a meditation set of music when you run instead of listening to the radio or to other music.

Download a podcast from iTunes – there are guided meditations and there are Buddhist talks.  The selection of things to listen to is simply amazing!

Try something new today.

Angels Speak - The Irony

image

Nothing that is worth doing can be achieved in our lifetime;
therefore, we must be saved by hope.
Nothing which is true or beautiful or good makes complete sense in any immediate context of history;
therefore, we must be saved by faith.
Nothing we do, however virtuous, could be accomplished alone;
therefore, we must be saved by love.
No virtuous act is quite as virtuous from the standpoint of our friend or foe as it is from our own standpoint;
therefore, we must be saved by the final form of love, which is forgiveness.

the irony of american history - reinhold niebuhr – 1952

We are now a global community.  It seems that we still believe that we are tribal or regional.  In 2015, we still here of generations old hate against others; we hear of ethnic cleansing; we hear of religious wars.  Really?  Now?  Doesn’t it seem that we are slow to get the message?

Angels Speak - WE ARE PART of EVERYTHING

image

I am the wind on the sea.
I am the ocean wave.
I am the sound of the billows.
I am the seven-horned stag.
I am the hawk on the cliff.
I am the dewdrop in sunlight.
I am the fairest of flowers.
I am the raging boar.
I am the salmon in the deep pool.
I am the lake on the plain.
I am the meaning of the poem.
I am the point of the spear.
I am the god that makes fire in the head.
Who levels the mountain?
Who speaks the age of the moon?
Who has been where the sun sleeps?
Who, if not I?

song of amergin - mythical celtic invocation

This beautiful poem is a reminder that we are all part of the Oneness.  Each of us has a point of light that is immortal in us.  This light continues on.  It becomes part of everything when we die.  It exists in us to remind us of our connection to the animals, the birds, the grass, and other humans.  We are more than we seem.

Angels Speak - Pain and Sorrow

image

The poster with the wonderful words of Rumi, speaks to the saying from our Ancestors that “God does not give us more than we can handle”.  We all have times when we cannot move because there is great sorrow in our lives.

Pain and sorrow allow you to grow or to shut down (with anger, resentment, and grievances).  We need to find a way to move to the light, to the lightness of heart.

Angels Speak - People In Your Life

image

Life will bring you people that you need to learn lessons with and sometimes, from them.  These are the people that have a short time span in your life.  Many of us, however, keep these people around for quite a long time.  We let guilt, or blame, or laziness, keep us from moving on.  And, we need to move on.

Our Ancestors, The People, were not in the Nature of letting people stay in the tribe if they did not belong in the life.  We need to change out those that don’t fit, bring negativity, or try to hold us back.  We need to move.

Sometimes, it is family that is the problem.  They are more difficult to let go of.  You can, however, set boundaries and use the boundaries to distance from them.  Sometimes, you have to move.

Who is in your life that should be gone?

Angels Speak - Where You Spend Your Time

image

You often hear people say that they “wish they could…. (fill in the blank)” but they cannot because of this reason or that reason.  We all have probably said this from time to time.  The poster above is really reminding us that we need to put our resources into what we want to do – not what others want us to do.

Sometimes, it is difficult to get out and water the grass each day.  But you get to choose where you spend your time.

Angels Speak - Never Too Old

image

I am always amazed at how I see people age gracefully and with vigour.  Some different stories have appeared on the internet.  However, one lady’s explanation of her ability to stay healthy and active into her nineties – and yes she had to give up driving in her late eighties – was that she kept setting herself little challenges or goals.  Some were fitness related.  Some were events or places that she wanted to see.

I think that many people do not have dreams or goals.  They become dis-interested in life.

Buddha Speaks - See The Light

image

Sometimes, being in a dark place is like being in a pit.  The sides are smooth, the floor is smooth, and you are not tall enough to jump out.  Every way out looks impossible!

What often happens, however, when you are in a pit, is that it rains, and you can float or swim to the top.  Or, someone friendly and helpful comes along with a rope and pulls you out.  Or, even more miraculously, the side of the pit collapses, and you can climb your way out.

The biggest challenge with being in the pit is to have courage, and to have hope.  With Hope, you can change what is.  When you climb out of the pit, you may have LOVE, and compassion for those that are stuck in other pits.

Angels Speak - What You Need Flows

image

What an interesting poster!   What I need flows to me…. most people do not trust that this will happen so they rush and struggle and stress.  We have not been taught the “way of the flow”.  We have been taught scarcity and grasping and competition.  We do not understand cooperation and community.

The Universe provides for all of Nature.  We are part of Nature.

Buddha Speaks

image

I recently received my TRICYCLE magazine.  I loved the article that I have noted below… The Light Is Always There… and thought I would share it with those who are drawn to it.

From the Tricycle Website and blog…http://www.tricycle.com/blog/light-always-there

The Light Is Always There

A Tibetan Bon practice for finding refuge within

Tenzin Wangyal July 30, 2015

Excerpt from the article….

There is a Tibetan joke about a yogi who leaves his hermitage to get supplies. Afraid of getting lost in a crowded marketplace, he ties a red ribbon around his leg. As long as the ribbon is there, he feels secure. But at one point he looks down and notices that the ribbon has fallen off. He frantically runs back and forth through the market, yelling, "I'm lost! I'm lost! Did anyone see me? I'm the one wearing the red ribbon around his leg."

Angels Speak - Changing Your Life

image

Poster From:  Http://www.lifehack.org

I had a rather thought provoking conversation with my greatest friend.  I call her my greatest friend because she is awe inspiring in what she does in the community, in her spiritual practice, and in the way she treats her friends, her animals, and most especially, her family.

Back on track… the conversation covered so many questions.  It turns out that they came from something that she read on LifeHack.  Some of the questions are above.  Some of these questions are questions that you can write pages of journal notes about.

The big question for me was number 6… die now and have regrets?  Things just flowed out of me.  And, I have a new bucket list.  How cool is that?

Angels Speak - Good Morning

image

In the morning, I often walk the dogs in the off leash area on the hill, several blocks from our house.  I love meeting up with other walkers and hearing that cheery, “Good morning”.  Sometimes, walking with some of my friends, we will review what happened to us over the last several days, and talk about what is coming up.  We support, coach, and provide a loving energy to help each other get through what ever is going on.  If everything is good, we laugh and tell stories.  It is a great way to start the day… better than coffee!

Angels Speak - Leave It Behind

image

It takes a lot of motivation to move beyond the barrier that holds you back.  Whether it is a fence, or a person, or a thought pattern, the barrier is real.

I always think of FRIED GREEN TOMATOES when I think of barriers.  I think of Evelyn, played by Kathy Bates, who takes a hammer and smashes down the wall that she has hated fro years.

When I have a barrier, I pick up my imaginary hammer, and I smash the barrier.

Angels Speak - For Peace

image

I wonder how many people these days have peace in their hearts?  The economy is stressed, and people are without work.  We seem to lack intelligent, fair minded people to lead our countries.  What do we have to look forward to?

I see the beauty in the simplicity of less.  I see more people choosing to simplify their homes and their life styles.  I see communities returning to more simplified ways.

In the simple is Peace.  In the simple is mindfulness.  We can choose Oneness. We can turn to prayer.

Nature Speaks - Save It

image

I love the intelligence of Nature.  She seems to be such a project manager!  She has put together animals to create ecosystems that man cannot seem to match.  My favourite story is how bringing wolves back into Yellowstone changed the rivers and the balance of wildlife.  You can watch that on Youtube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysa5OBhXz-Q

It seems that man wants to pull things apart, similar to young children pulling all the toys out of the toy box.  The youngsters expect that “someone” – either Mom or Dad, will pick up the toys and reorganize the room.  Humans believe that “someone” will straighten up the mess from logging, mining, drilling for oil or gas, or from building roads and shopping centers.

It seems that humans have a sense of entitlement, that others will be the swat team that cleans everything up.  The poster sums up the current belief – someone else will save the planet.

What are you doing to help Mother Earth?

Buddha Speaks - An Easy Prayer

image

Saying thank you for receiving “something” is good manners.  Why not do a thank you for a meal?  You do not need to do it out loud.

I like this easy prayer.

Thay Nhat Hanh’s meal chant

This food is the gift of the whole universe – the earth, the sky, and much hard work. May we live in a way that makes us worthy to receive it.
May we transform our unskillful states of mind, especially our greed.
May we take only foods that nourish us and prevent illness.
We accept this food so that we may realise the path of practice.

Buddha Speaks - Time and Karma

image

I saw this poster and thought about the one stick that burns a million trees.  People are like matches as they can ignite a crowd or destroy a village or a race.

Karma is the big wheel of life that eventually brings you to “the other side” of something that you have done, for betterment of everyone or for selfish destructive reasons.  The karma is the balancing – in accounting terms, the debit and credit of everything.

If we move through life conscious that we may change our future by our current behaviour, I believe that kindness will prevail.

Spirit Animal - Porcupine On Sticking To It

image

The apples are still green but getting bigger and juicier – just the way that Porcupine likes it.  Porcupine is up amongst the gardens and trees in our neighbourhood eating the raspberries and apples.  As she prepares for winter by packing on some pounds, she brings this message:

1. IF you find a good thing, stick to it.  Explore all the options and choose a few that please you.  Do not be dissuaded.

2. IF you meet with set backs, stop, and backup.  Find a way to go around the obstacle.  Choose a way that is easy and goes with the flow.  Getting upset or angry will not do.

3. IF you achieve your goal, then celebrate.  IT is the easiest way to relax.

Buddha Speaks - Osho on Slowing Down

The past week has been lesson after lesson for me on slowing down.  I pulled an Osho card and this is the card with my meditation for this week.  Enjoy!

Knight of Rainbows: Slowing Down

The Knight of Rainbows is a reminder that, just like this tortoise, we carry our home with us wherever we go. There is no need to hurry, no need to seek shelter elsewhere. Even as we move into the depths of the emotional waters, we can remain self-contained and free from attachments. It is a time when you are ready to let go of any expectations you have had about yourself or other people, and to take responsibility for any illusions you might have been carrying. There is no need to do anything but rest in the fullness of who you are right now.
If desires and hopes and dreams are fading away, so much the better. Their disappearance is making space for a new quality of stillness and acceptance of what is, and you are able to welcome this development in a way you have never been able to before. Savor this quality of slowing down, of coming to rest and recognizing that you are already at home.

Nature Speaks - Of Magic

image

Walking in my garden in the morning, I can feel the magic in the air.  I take the dogs into the park and walk through the woods, and I feel the magic in the trees.  Each of the places you go to find peace in Nature will bring you magic.  It is a meditation of beauty in practice every day.

You can see the magic in a house plant or in the grass that grows in the sidewalk.  The plants show courage and happiness and how to move with the flow.
