All my life, a large black horse has been my spirit animal, my protector, my teacher, my guide, and my friend. She is nameless and simply gets called “Black” – so in that sense, she has a name. She shows up less frequently than she did in the past. Recently, however, she has been coming around and chatting a bit.
Black’s latest comments have been around movement. She says the following:
- Humans have been able to move faster over greater distances since they adopted the Horse people into their lives.
- Horses run for the fun and the freedom. It keeps them practised for when they must run for their lives.
- Horses represent strength to humans. Humans see strength as the ability to move with power. They see the power to travel.
- Horses hitched to chariots or wagons or pulling barges are all creating a form of travel for mankind. Man has wanted Horse to pull him since he first believed that Horses pulled the Sun across the sky.
- Celts praise the horse and even have a Horse Goddess.
- When you think about Horse pulling humans in some contraption, you can really see that Horse is a guide or leads, humans!
- Horse volunteered to be in Service. Mankind decided that service was not enough. They created many ways to “break” Horse so that man had total control of Horse.
- Those with a Shaman’s soul truly know the beauty of Horse, and Horse is honoured to carry the Shaman across the sky when the need is there.

I keep dreaming that I am a horse. Does this mean that I have a horse for a spirit animal?
ReplyDeleteAccording to the ancient teachings from our ancestors if you turn into a particular animal you indeed would carry the medicine of that animal. If an animal comes to you it has a message for your journey. Now that you turned into a horse I would invite you to read about horse. They are about power and freedom according to Animal Speak by Ted Andrews.
