Spirit Animal - Deer Says To Make Tracks!

image

I looked outside this morning, and it was snowing and blowing.  I hurried into the bathroom to change from pyjamas to dog walking clothes.  The room swirled around me, and I looked down and I seemed to be standing on snow… that wasn’t cold.  And, there were deer tracks in the snow.  I looked up and saw the tail end of a deer flick into the bush.  Everything swirled and I was back in the bathroom.

I sat down on the toilet seat and wondered what had just happened.  Normally, the animal would stop to give some information.  And, I heard that distant voice say, “Well, deer did give you information, and it seems to me that it was pretty clear!”

I got up, changed, put the dogs collars on them, and headed for the van and out.  I kept thinking about the strange vision of the snow.  We were out walking in snow and blowing snow, at about –22 C, and even the cold could not distract me from the vision.  I still did not get anything.

It was not until early afternoon that I felt some very clear guidance.  A large, antlered deer stood on the edge of a clearing that was filled with snow.  The clearing was covered with deer tracks.  The big Buck looked very grave.  He began to speak.

“Look around this clearing.  There are not any deer, or any other wild thing in this clearing, even though this is a place that we consider safe, and that provides us with food.  We know that now, for the next several seasons, that it is good to stay out of the open, and to stay more hidden in the bushes and trees.  There is safety there.  We say to you to tell all that you know that they should make tracks for the safety of the trees and the hills or mountains.  We say that now is a good time to keep a low profile.  Follow your instincts about doing what is right for you.”

I felt the intensity of the message, and felt like Great Spirit was standing in the guise of a deer, to give me a warning of what will be coming as the world shifts.  I feel very honoured to have received this visit.

Spirit Animal - Snake To The Rescue

I have often heard of cooperation between animals of different species in times of big, disrupting events like fires and floods, or even when hunters are in the area.

This story from Australia is a very interesting one.

Enjoy!

clip_image001

Of all the startling images to have come out from the Queensland floods, this has to be the most unusual
a green frog hitching a ride on the back of a brown snake.

Computer technician Armin Gerlach was visiting friends in the flood-hit town of Dalby , located in the state's south-east,  last week when he spotted the unlikely pair.
"I felt amazement, I just couldn’t believe it," Mr. Gerlach told the reporter.
Mr. Gerlach said a friend who had been affected by many floods told him animals often helped each other out during disasters.

"It's quite common when you have animals in floods or fires or disasters, they actually get together and don't do anything," he said.

"My friend has seen foxes and rabbits forget their hunting instincts during natural disasters," he said.

Mr. Gelach said he and his friends were inspecting flood damage on the property, where waters had risen to about 4.7m.

Spirit Speaks - The Unconquerable Soul

image

I was having a discussion about life and particularly, the way life is now playing out.  She said to me, what if our soul wants us to die now.  The thought took me so by surprise that I was speechless!  She asked me if I was okay.  I said that I was, but that the idea of our soul wanting us to die, ultimately so that we can move on to other things, simply got my mind churning away on new ideas.

I remembered the poem, “Invictus”, and I wondered whether indeed we were the captains of our own souls.  My thought is that once we reach a high level of vibration, then our earthly soul merges with our higher self, and it doesn’t really matter.

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Spirit Animal - Shining Rabbit

image

According to the Chinese calendar, this year, 2011, is the “Year of the Rabbit”.  Several times over the last two weeks, a big white rabbit has been out in the cul-de-sac, sitting in the snow, and watching everyone.

Most days, she seems to sit where the sun is shining, and the frost in her fur makes her shine, and makes her look ethereal, or “not real”.  The dogs see her, and whine, but seem happy not to chase her.

One day, as she sat, seeming to stare right at me, I asked her if she had something to share with me or with others.  Here is what she said.

“ I am here to speak to you of quiet times – when the grass was tall and green and lush.  With very little effort, all beings had enough to eat.  The sun was gentle and warm, and the time of snows was one for sleeping and being lazy and dreaming good dreams.  These times were the times before men.  These were the times when all beings were in harmony and balance.  Animals did not destroy their habitat or other animals recklessly.  Something only died when food was required.

Humans are now at a point where they need to learn to how to be moderate and quiet.  Man will now feel Nature move across the Earth in rebellion of all the unkindness that has been done.  Nature will be no longer peaceful; it will be full of anger and to clear this anger, the Earth must erupt.  Many will not be able to live with these changes.  I say, “Have faith!”

Open up to the fun and to the healing that is in the Earth and all around you.  Walk with the animals, the birds, and the trees.  Swim with the fishes.  Be cleansed.”

Spirit Animal – Wolf In The Shadows

image

Several days ago, while walking with my dogs, I ran into a friend who was out walking her dog.  We chatted for a while, and she said to me, “Where is your third dog?”

I was very surprised because I only have two dogs, and I said that to her.  She looked puzzled for a moment, and said, “My mistake.”

We left it at that.  However, since then, I thought about why she might think I have three dogs.  Then, this morning, as the dogs and I were out walking, I thought I saw a black dog running across the snow with Sage.  I looked again, and could not see it.  We walked some more, and I saw it again.

The dog seemed more wolfish looking.  And, it seemed to shimmer between something physical and a shadow, ultimately disappearing if I looked too long at it.  The wolf did not feel like it belonged with me, and yet it seemed to run with Sage.

Then I remembered!  Sage’s spirit animal guide is a wolf.  It seems like Sage’s Shadow Wolf wanted to get out and run.  At one point, Sage turned to look at it, and barked, and then they both took off running.  It was like Sage was racing his shadow.

I now believe that my friend is able to see spirits and shadow beings, and that Sage and his Shadow Wolf were there to help bring out her dormant skill.

What a wonderful gift!

Spirit Animal - Elephant Power

image

Elephants were charged with keeping the rhythm steady for the beating of Mother Earth’s heart.  When the world was new, and there were lots of elephants (and whales), this was an easy task.  Now, however, the Elephant has fewer and fewer members of the tribe that can do the work that is passed down through elephant memory.

Elephant is now looking for other ways to fulfill its commitment to Mother Earth.  Nightly, Elephant walks in Dream TIme, looking for humans that will walk with him and the others in the herd, and learn the ways of the Elephant.  Elephant is not just about being strong; it knocks down trees, and has pushed railroad cars off the railway tracks – it is about being smart and remembering.  Elephant looks for people that are compassionate and kind.  They look for people that have a strong sense of duty.  There is power in having a cause and sticking to it.  Elephant may come to you tonight, or the next night.

Welcome him or her, and ask how you can help.  You will become part of Elephant Power.

Spirit Animal – Earthworm, The Caretaker

image

“Worms can make gurgling noises underground when disturbed as a result of the worm moving through its lubricated tunnels. They also work as biological "pistons" forcing air through the tunnels as they move. Thus earthworm activity aerates and mixes the soil, and is constructive to mineralization and nutrient uptake by vegetation.

Investigations in the US show that fresh earthworm casts are 5 times richer in available nitrogen, 7 times richer in available phosphates and 11 times richer in available potash than the surrounding upper 6 inches (150 mm) of soil. In conditions where there is plenty of available humus, the weight of casts produced may be greater than 4.5 kg (10 lb) per worm per year, in itself an indicator of why it pays the gardener or farmer to keep worm populations high.– from Wikipedia”

Although it is still chilly outside, the air is beginning to feel like spring!  And, while walking in the park the last few days, it seems that the Earthworms, down below the frost line, are beginning to come out of dormancy and to move and to work.

Earthworm, as you can see from the Wikipedia information, is a powerful caretaker of the soil, and therefore, of all of us on the planet.  Yet, Earthworm receives little credit for all that it does.  The Earthworm, who never asks for anything in all of the legends, is now asking for your help.

  • When you see a stranded Earthworm –  on pavement or a sidewalk, and if it is possible, put them back on the soil.
  • If you have no Earthworms in your flower beds or in your garden, get some.  Get them from a neighbour or from a green house.
  • Send a blessing to Earthworm for all that it does.

Spirit Speaks - Lord Sananda

image

Several nights ago, in a meditation circle, I felt a presence come in by my friend, June, and stand with us (she and I were sitting together).  I did not recognize the energy, however, I did realize that it was very loving.

When we were finished the meditation, I asked June who was there.  She replied, “Jesus”.

That made complete sense to me.  Sometimes we know energies by different names.  Lord Sananda is an Ascended Master who is also called “Jesus” which was one of his lives on Earth.  Over time, different Ascended Masters have spent time on Earth to help raise the vibration of mankind.

While Sananda was meditating with us, several thoughts came through, with his gentle guidance.

1.  Nurture -  no one is going to take care of you on the Earth plane so you must do a great job of taking care of yourself.

2.  Sorrow – what appears to be sad to you, and what appears to be unkind to you, is showing you areas of self that you need to work on.  These areas are places where you need to work on self forgiveness.

3.  Heal – this is the time to work on those things that ail you.  Know that you are not responsible for healing others who have not worked on their own healing.  When you work to clear something that causes you pain or illness, and when you are successful, those that need that same work will be sent to you for coaching.

4.  Love – work to be in a place of constant love of the world and all that is in it.  This is the way of the Angels.

Spirit Speaks - Brotherhood

image

My two words for the day are “brotherhood” and “healing”.  My first thought was, “Wow, that is a far-out combination!”  Then I realized that the only way to heal is to incorporate the concept of “brotherhood” into our lives.   Brotherhood means “the belief that all people should act with warmth and equality toward one another, regardless of differences in race, creed, nationality, etc.”.  This definition comes from dictionary.reference.com.

Brotherhood is hard for most of us to incorporate into our lives because we believe that most people have one of these attributes: they should listen to us, but don’t; they aren’t as smart as us; they are worthless; they are lazy; they are losers; they are control freaks; and, they are too much trouble.  That is quite a list of judgements that we have about people.

I realize that my big task is to look at my life and who I work with, and accept them as is, in brotherhood, so that I can speed up any self healing that I have left to do.  As well, I need to work with the people that Creator puts in my path so that I can see what lessons I need to learn.  Learning brings a great peace to our lives.  This makes me think about a slide that a friend sent me.  Here it is.  I wonder if it is also saying that we have a chance to clear Karma with that person.

image

I will continue to mull over this idea of Brotherhood and healing, and work to walk this talk.

Spirit Animal - Bear Spirit

Last night, Roger and I were part of a Drumming Circle that honoured Grandmother Moon.  From where I was sitting in the circle, I could see a picture of a Bear, sketched in charcoal, and sketched by one of the members of the Circle, then presented to our hostess.

As we moved through the parts of the ceremony, it seemed to me that the Bear moved from time to time.  Then, this lovely video was front and center for me this morning.  Bear is very active at the moment. She is giving birth and nurturing herself and her young.  Brother Bear is prowling Dream Time to talk to all of us that need to hear his message.

Great Spirit Speaks - February 2011 Full Moon

image

Today is a full moon in the Northern Hemisphere.  We still have snow here and so it makes sense that this moon has several different names:

  • Snow Moon – there is often big snowfalls at this time of the year
  • Hunger Moon – the snow makes it difficult for The People, our ancestors and for animals to find food
  • Storm Moon – as well as large amounts of snow falling, the wind and the cold may enter the mix and then the Snow Moon is the Storm Moon
  • Candles Moon – even though the days are getting longer, there is still much darkness.  If one wants to see the others in the lodge, then many candles or lanterns must be lighted.  Electricity makes having light much easier.  Most people use more kilowatts in the winter months.

Today is a good day to change your thoughts about who you are.  The best guidance about who you are or your “operator’s manual” if you will, is a poem called “Desiderata”.   Read it over and over as a meditation.  Let it change you.

Desiderata

- by max ehrmann, c1920

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.

Take kindly to the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Buddha Speaks - The Circle Of Life - Samsara

image

I had a conversation with a friend of mine about the strangeness of life; about how weird things happen to us and then, later on, we find that there is meaning in the incident.  I was thinking about how many people in my life have come in for a reason or for a specific purpose, and then how many of those people simply left my life.  I have no idea what has become of them.  As I was thinking all of this, I realized that I was doing a life review.  I asked forgiveness from those that I, in my mind, treated badly.  Then I went to do my Buddhist lesson for the day, and I realized that it was on “samsara”.

The Symbol of Samsara is the 'Circle' as it has no beginning and no end.   Samsara is the Circle of life, an endless cycle of birth, death and re-birth.  ~ from Wiki.answers.com~

I felt that it was appropriate, given where my thoughts had been , that this lesson was about the circle of life.  I then read the story that went with the lesson, and I got a few chills along my back.  This story was speaking to the way I had been thinking.  Here it is.

A Case of Samsara

Imagine this scene: a layman sits in front of his house, eating a fish from the pond behind the house, holding his son in his lap. The dog is eating the fish bones and the man kicks the dog. Not an extraordinary scene one would think, but ven. Shariputra commented:

"He eats his father's flesh and kicks his mother away,
The enemy he killed he dandles on his lap,
The wife is gnawing at her husband's bones,
Samsara can be such a farce."

What had happened?. The man's father died and was reborn as a fish in the pool, the layman caught his father, the fish, killed it, and was now eating it. . The layman's mother was very attached to the house so she was reborn as the man's dog. The man's enemy had been killed for raping the man's wife; and because the enemy was so attached to her, he was reborn as her son. While he ate his father's meat, the dog - his mother - ate the fish bones, and so was beaten by her son. His own little son, his enemy, was sitting on his knee.

                   ***********

You may have had a similar reaction to mine which was, “Wait a minute.  How can this be?”

In the circle of life, we can show up anywhere on the circle.  Our Karma helps determine who we need to be close to, and what lessons we need to learn.  I am still thinking about this story.

Spirit Animal - Dragon Lessons

image

The legends of Dragons are about how fearsome they are, how they hunt humans and other animals, and how they must be destroyed.  Over and over, Dragon has been showing up for me in the last several days and nights.  She comes in as a protector, as a guide, and as a teacher.  Dragons, in some cases, are immortal.  In their disgust with the human’s predatorial and aggressive behaviour to dragons and especially to other humans, Dragons shifted to other dimensions or to very hidden caravans below the Earth’s surface.

Now, Dragon and her kind are returning to this plane.  It is time, she indicates, for dragons to re-join humans as humans become more loving and kind.  She says that we have lessons to learn.

  • Treasure does not feed your soul.
  • What you eat may not appeal or even be acceptable to others.  This is their lesson, not yours.
  • We each look the way we look on the surface.  One needs to get to know the being before making judgements about who they are inside.
  • All beings have the physics within them to deconstruct and to reconstruct themselves (teleportation).  Most will need help with the mechanics of doing this.
  • Telepathy has always been on the planet Earth.  However, due to the toxins in processed foods and in drugs, it has been bred out of most humans.  Only those aboriginals living in isolation are able to comfortably use that part of their brain.
  • Dragons are known for their healing skills.  They wish to share this with all of you.

I was surprised at the Dragon’s list of lessons.  And, I am curious to see how Dragon will work with me and with the rest of humanity.

If you have a story about working with Dragon, I would love to hear it!  You may send it to me directly at judy@angelsandancestors.com.  If you wish to share this with others, either put your story in the comments box, or please include a note giving me permission to publish your story.  Thanks!

Spirit Animal - Birds Come Visiting

image

This morning, in my dream state, just before waking, I could hear Chickadees and Sparrows, calling and chirping, and it sounded like “Jud-eee!  Jud-eee!  Jud-eee!”  I started to pay attention.

I was outside on the deck and different birds that I feed at our feeders were lined up on the back of the bench.  Their question to me was “why aren’t you putting out bird seed for us?”  I did not mean to be negligent.  In truth, I had two bags of bird seed in my meditation room, gathering up good vibes from all our crystals.  It simply had not been high on my priorities.  Now, it is apparent that I should be paying attention to my wild friends.

I apologized.  Then I asked why it was such a need for them when we have been having spring like weather, the snow is melting, and food seems to be plentiful.  The birds chirped away… somewhat between a laugh and acknowledgement that I had some awareness.  Here is the story that they told me.

“We have more access to food now.  However, the bird seed gives us extra energy because we do not need to forage as much.  We birds are also undergoing energy shifts and it takes so much energy to stay with in this plane.  The strength of the shifts is causing some of us to drop dead and cross to the pure energy level.  The bird seed, and your energy that you put into it, helps us to stay here, with you.  We know that everything is shifting.  And, more and more birds will be moving here from the unsafe places – places where there will be all water and sulphur from the explosions of the dirt (I think they mean volcanoes).  There will be more birds and animals than our valley can support.  We need you to help us.”

My dreamscape shifted, and I was back in my bed, waking up.  After I finished my yoga and meditation, I went and filled both bird feeders, and said a blessing of thanks to my wild friends.

From Judy – Happy Valentine’s Day–Feb 14, 2011

image

This is the day that we have set aside for expressing love.  This is also the day that is said, in legend, to be the God, Cupid’s, busiest day.

“In Roman mythology, Cupid (Latin cupido, meaning "desire") is the god of desire, affection and erotic love. He is the son of goddess Venus and god Mars.”  - from Wikipedia

Cupid tries to match people together so that men and women will not have to roam the Earth alone, and so that each has a witness to the life journey that they are on.

I wish each of you a very Happy Valentine’s Day!

I wish that each of you is already connected to your one, true love, or that your one true love is around the corner.

I wish you each days of love and laughter.

Spirit Animals–Badger Moves In

image

Sometimes your Spirit Animal will feel the need to stay close to you, and will use their physical form to move into a physical location that will physically be located close to you.

Two nights ago, our dogs jumped off of the couch and headed to the patio glass doors.  They were looking out towards the garden shed.  We let them out, and they both went charging off to the shed.  About three feet from the shed, they both skidded to a halt, quit barking and quietly turned around and came in.  When we opened the door, we smelled a musky odour, quite similar to skunk musk.  Since skunks are still hibernating, we tried to figure out what it was.  We finally gave up, and went back to our movie.

That night, in dream time, my Badger guide came to see me and told me he had moved in under the garden shed.  He introduced himself as “Lanket” (rhymes with “blanket”).  He said that I would be closer and he would visit me almost every day.  He indicated that I had a lot of work to do. When I asked what kind of work, he said that I would see in the near future.  He showed me where his front entrance was, and said the back entrance was outside of our yard.  He gave me a pat on the arm that left two scratches, and disappeared.

It will be fun to have one of my Spirit Animal teachers so close by.  My sense of this next phase of education is that I will be working more closely with the Earth and with Earth Spirits.

Ask your Spirit Animal to come to work with you on a more regular basis and see what happens.

From Judy - We Are Amazing!

One of my friends sent me the most wonder video clip, produced by BBC One, and that covers the spectrum of human experience.

I am in awe of us, of humans, for all that we do and the extreme places that we do it in.

We are wonderful!

Enjoy this!

Spirit Speaks–Caring For Your Body

image

The message that has been coming through in meditation and in dream time is that I need to take care of my body…. and this message is for each of us…. we need to take care of our bodies so that we can stay active and be witness to the changes that are happening on the planet at this time.

I keep hearing the message to exercise.  It speaks that each of us are different and that we need to each find an exercise that works for us.  For me, it is medium effort yoga and lots of walking in nature.

I also keep hearing the message to eat more healthy by making better choices.  I have been getting strong signals from my angels when I make an unhealthy choice of food.  For example, if I choose to eat white bread, I eat a little, and then I get a headache.  White bread converts to sugar too quickly in my body.  If I choose French fries over carrot sticks, I get a pain in my neck.  If I choose an apple over a cookie, I get a warm, fuzzy feeling.  Why the pain and fuzzies?  I have asked my Angels to help me choose better food and to help me stay disciplined.

As I make the changes, I notice that the energetic changes on the planet do not seem to hit me quite as hard.  When I am making poorer choices around food, I have trouble sleeping between midnight and three o’clock AM.

I am working at taking care of my body.  I hope that you take of yours, too!

Spirit Animal–Seven Gill Shark

image

This picture is of a seven gill shark in the San Francisco Bay Area – from a film by David McGuire

"When you remove sharks from the system, the system has this cascade effect where it eventually degrades, and it becomes unhealthy. So having sharks in the ocean is really important because they maintain a healthy ocean," said McGuire.

This week, I have been in San Francisco Bay area at a training with NetSuite.  The topic of sharks came up at least once a day…. not in the context of selling, but in the context of “there are a lot of different sharks in the San Francisco Bay and that is why Alcatraz was such a safe prison”.

Every so often, at the edge of my consciousness, a Shark would swim into view and mouth the words, “Talk to me!”   The feeling was along the lines of someone saying, “Call me!”  So, when I had some down time, I tuned in to the Shark and found the Seven Gill Shark.

I went out to Google the San Francisco Bay shark, and found lots of interesting stuff.  The main shark in the bay is a Seven-Gill shark.  The number of gills is quite unusual in the shark species.  The Seven Gill Shark is quite shy and hard to find.  Only five recorded attacks on humans have been detailed since the 1600’s.  Most often, when humans look for it, the Seven Gill is invisible.  It can drop to depths of almost 500 feet and possibly more, without affecting its body.  Normal scuba dives (recreational diving) will be to a depth of about eighty to one hundred and twenty feet.

Having a better feel for the Shark, I now went into a meditative state and asked it to come in to talk with me – the “call me” part.  She came in, and gave me some information.

“There are those that think Sharks are the worst or most unforgiving of the predators in the ocean.  It is true that some sharks are.  As with all creatures, within the species, there is a spectrum of those that are very aggressive to those that are quite gentle.  Being a Shark is about getting enough to eat without being dependent on another Shark.  This makes Sharks no different than a tiger or a rabbit, as both are more solitary, like the Shark.  Being a Shark is also about being smart enough to know when one must join the group to go after prey that is available and more than one Shark will cope with.  How we behave depends on the company that we keep – as is the case with humans and their behaviour.  We caution you to watch carefully who you allow in to your circle, and who you trust.  Not everyone shows their true face.”

Angels Speak–Following The Stars

image

The Once and Future Stars of Andromeda

The Angels say that the spiral of life can be found every where on Earth, as well as out in the stars.  They say that our Ancestors could travel great distances without compasses because they could read directions in the stars, even though the paths were spiralling around the Earth.

To our Ancestors, following the stars meant that one received clear direction about which way to travel.  And, when they could not see the stars, the people stayed put. The one constant in life, beside the Sun rising and setting and the Moon lighting up the night, was the stars, and where they appeared.

The Angels tell us now that if we follow the stars, and look at where they were ten and then five years ago compared to where they are now, that something has shifted.  It could be that the entire Universe has shifted, or, it could be that the Earth has shifted orbit.  The stars tell us that all is going a new direction.  This is not good or bad, simply different.  That means that there are no precedents about what may happen.  Each day is brand new, ready to be opened like a big envelope full of newsy letters.

This is a time to follow the stars.

Spirit Animal–Otter Slides In

image

Otters love the water and spend more time in the river than out of it.  However, Otter always works to find ways to play.  A favourite past time is to create a slide down the river bank.  A little jump up, and Otter can land on its belly and slide down the muddy slide into the coolness of the water.  If she is lucky, a fish is nearby and she can get a snack at the same time.  Otter gives us some good lessons with her example of creative play.

  • Although the water may be deep, diving right in is the best way to find the hidden treasures that lurk beneath the surface of the situation.
  • Playing takes the stress out of staying alive.
  • A fur coat does not indicate sophistication and seriousness; it just means that they are well dressed.
  • Everyone takes their turn going down the slide.  To do otherwise is  to upset the natural order of Nature.
  • A rock is a good place to sun yourself, but makes a terrible slide.
  • Playfulness indicates spontaneity, and a creative spirit.

Spirit Speaks – Truth And Willingness

My challenge for the day is to meditate on the words “truth” and “willingness”.   These are really tough words to put together to come up with an “aha” moment.

image

Truth, of course, is always the way that the different parties understand a situation.  Truth can be altered by the emphasis put on different words in a sentence.  Truth for me is different than truth for you.  When I looked up “truth” in the dictionary, I had a difficult time determining what the “true” definition is.

Albert Einstein said, “The ideas that have lighted my way have been kindness, beauty and truth.”

Gustav Le Bon has said, “Science has promised us truth. It has never promised us either peace or happiness.”

Marcus Aurelius, Roman Emperor, had this view of truth - Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.

The truth, for me, is intangible, however, it has a feeling.  It has a rightness about it.  So I guess that “willingness” then, is the determination to move through life acknowledging the feeling of truth, and following what feels right.

I can do that.

Buddha Speaks–Attachment To A Place

image

Other than the farm that I was born on, I have never lived in a place longer than nine years.  Most places, I have lived five years.  Part of this change is because of changing jobs and part of this is simply because I like change.  Even with short stays at a place, it is easy to get attached.  In the house that we now have in Calgary, I am beginning to feel like this is where I always should be.

I was thinking about the house and the yard, and the coming spring.  When I settled in to do my Buddhist lesson, and I flipped the book, I got the following story about attachment.  What a message to me!  Perhaps this story will have a special meaning to you, as well.

The Story of The Turtle’s Attachment

Once there lived a potter in a village on the outskirt of Varanasi. He had a small family. Close to his village was a pond, where dwelt fishes and tortoises. The pond was some what an extension of the river Ganga. So, the creatures of the pond could easily come and go to the river. As these creatures could intuit whether or not a season would be rainy or dry, they had known that the following summer would hardly have enough rain. So, they all moved out of the pond and entered the river for the future safety.

In the same pond, there lived a tortoise, which did not leave the pond despite the imminent danger, as it had strong attachment with his abode. He thought,

“I was born here

I have grown up here

My parents have lived here

Why should I go elsewhere.”

By and by, in the summer the water dried away. So he dug a hole and lay inside.

One day, the potter and his friends came to the pond with spades to dig and collect clay for potteries. Incidentally, they started digging the same ground, where the tortoise had buried itself. Unknowingly, the potter hit its shell and pulled it out as if it was a large lump of clay. The dying tortoise then realised his infatuation and recited,

“Go there where you can find happiness, no matter what the place be

A forest or village is the birth-place for thee.

If you find happiness and life there

Must you treat it your home wherever you be.”

But his realisation was too late, as he then died.  The potter then brought the carcass of the tortoise and exhibited it before his fellow villagers. Then narrating the whole story he said that the tortoise met his end because of his attachment. As he was too fond of his home he died. Then he advocated that the people, too, suffer because of attachment, such as

“I have sight; I have hearing; I have smell; I have taste; I have touch; I have a son; ; I have a daughter; ; I have servants; I have possessions; ; I have gold; ; I have house and so on … . Thus, we cling to it. As every worldly phenomenon is transitory and subject to decay-and-death; nothing can be kept for ever. Further, when the object to which we are attached slips away from our clinging. And the sudden realisation of the loss then makes us suffer.”

The potter’s discourse was well received by the audience, and as per the story he was remembered by the people for seven thousand years.

Spirit Animal–Muskrat On Planning

image

“Muskrats secrete a scent from their glands called musk. They have large, robust bodies with a flat scaly tail. The body is glossy dark brown and darker in winter and paler in the summer The fur is very dense for insulation. Muskrats have a large head and small ears that can hardly be seen underneath the fur. They have short legs and the large back feet are partly webbed. Muskrats are good swimmers and can stay underwater for up to 15 minutes.” ~~ from www.wildlifenorthamerica.com

Muskrat pulls up reeds and mud to haul to its mound in the swamp.  She climbs up on the mound, with a couple of sticks in her mouth, and drops them.  She looks at you, with puzzlement.  She finally speaks.

“I know how to build my own den, and how to forage for my food.  You – you look like you are lost.  I watch humans.  The old do not teach the young any more.  They do not teach them how to build, to watch for fox and coyote, or even how to find the tastiest shoots and roots.

When you need to fend for yourself, what skills do you have?  Do you know what the best green plants are to sustain you?  Your diet is not so different from mine.  Do you know how to tell if water is fresh and good to drink?  Have you any experience in building your own shelter?  If you do not know, then when you are out walking by a water way, ask me to come to your consciousness.  I will tell you what is safe and what is good.  I will be your teacher. In this way, you are beginning your planning for the future.  I will help you.”

Spirit Animal – Cow To The Rescue!

image
Normally one thinks of a mother cow protecting her baby, her calf, and this seems pretty normal.  Cows are one of the most protective parent animals in the animal kingdom.
The other night I had a dream.  In the dream, I was running from four men who were chasing me because they believed that I had stolen money from them.  In the dream, i had stumbled across a drug deal gone bad in a rural area.  Because I happened to be the closest to the scene, the “bad guys” assumed that I was the guilty party.  They did not even ask; they just started yelling at me, firing a gun over my head, and running.  When someone does that to you, the instinct is to run and get away at all costs.
I slipped through the fence, and into a cow pasture.  I was running towards the small river about a quarter of  a mile away.  The cows did not seem to notice me.  Then the bad guys climbed through the fence.  As one, all the cows swung and looked at them.  There was this huge bellowing moooo sound, and all the cows rushed at the bad guys.  The cows stomped on them, butted them, trampled them, and basically took them out of commission.  I was so dumbfounded that I stood with my mouth open.  The cows all came over and sniffed me, and licked me to make sure that I was all right.  And, then they went back to grazing.   I went and looked at the bad guys.  They looked quite dead.  I then looked at the cows, all quiet and grazing.   I would have never guessed that there was that kind of power in cows to protect a human.  I started to grin.
I woke up sort of laughing and shaking my head.  I wondered what the dream was telling me.  Here are some of the teachings:
  • Know that you are always taken care of.
  • Know that help will come from unexpected places.
  • All beings are related and feel your emotions.
  • Protect the children.

Spirit Speaks–Relationship Between Healing & Simplicity

Yesterday, in the morning, I drew the words “healing” and “simplicity” as my two meditative words of the day.   I thought about them all day, and when I could not get any where, I drew some cards from the deck, “Soul Cards” created by Deborah Koff-Chapin.  I ended up with three cards.  My interpretation is….

image
This is what it is like when you are healing… it seems like you are running from something.  If the disease is fatal, it is a fearful running.

image

The simplest thing to do with healing, is to embrace what ever is happening, to pull it toward you and to examine it.  See what it represents, and then work to assimilate it, lovingly, and with compassion.

image The illness or discomfort is really an assimilation of the different selves that you have carried over many lifetimes.  When fully accepted, each self becomes at ease, and then is assimilated into who you are now.  The process is beautiful!  It makes you a complex, vital human being; a true testament of creativity to the Creator.

These are my thoughts.  I would love to hear other interpretations because these cards are so complex.
Have a wonderful, learning day!

Angels Speak - Fear of Failure

image

The Angels tell us that there is no such thing as success or failure.  They also tell us that we can have fear of both of these situations.  They suggest that the biggest fear is that of drawing attention to ourselves.  This comes from our Ancestor’s day.

In the past, when you drew attention to your self, often, you were killed in some way – eaten by a hungry animal, killed by the enemy, or disposed of by someone who feared your power.

The challenge that we all have is to move through our daily routines in a fashion that does not judge what we do as a success or failure.  Each action we take is a learning action, and one that helps our progress forward.

I like this quote….

From Judy – February 1 2011 ( 02 01 2011) For Letting Go

I finished with my yoga, and pulled my two meditation words for the day.  The words were – “faith” and “spontaneity”.  I wondered how these two words went together.  Then I saw this wall paper from Desktop Nexus. ( http://abstract.desktopnexus.com/get/575649)  It is called TWILIGHT.
image
The picture made me realize that I have faith that the Sun will always rise and set, even if it is in a different direction than I am used to.  I believe the Moon will always watch over us.  My faith includes a deep belief in the power of healing that Nature has, and that Nature is the one constant that allows the changes on the planet to be always for the best and highest good, even if it inconveniences people along the way.
Spontaneity is result of “letting go”!  When I am spontaneous, people see the best and the worst in me because I hold nothing back.  Nature never holds anything back.  In the moment, She shows you all that she is.  It is this activity, Nature in the raw, that makes her glorious!  When we let go, we are creative, inspiring, and living the nature as our blueprint intended.
When I am spontaneous, I work more in the flow and my creativity surges out of me like the spring bubbling from a crack in a rock.  I feel the truth of what I write, of what I do.  I am connected to Creator.
I wish you moments of spontaneity.  These moments make your faith stronger!
