Spirit Animal – Timberwolf on Winter

image

Q. Do you do anything to prepare for winter?

“When winter is coming, we teach the two year old cubs about the way winter can work.  The snow can be a help when it is deep.  It can help keep the elk and the moose trapped in the forest and this makes it easier for us to hunt them.”

Q.  Do you move further south for the winter?

“We follow the big herds of moose, elk, and woodland caribou.  Where they go, we go.”

Q.  How do you feel about winter?

Picture a blank expression.  “It just is.  Winter is the balance of things and gives the trees and grass rest.”

Q.  Where do you sleep in the winter?

“We are often on the move in winter.  We sleep in sheltered spots, under the overhanging tree or in a cave, or under shrubs that have created a dry space protected from the wind.”
