Blue Jay finds this time of year amusing because humans, in general, do not appreciate the passing of the seasons. For Blue Jay, foraging becomes easier because the competition is reduced as so many birds fly south. Although squirrels do compete for the succulent morsels of sunflower seeds, early birds do get the seeds!

Some humans do have compassion for birds at this time of year. (Note that we have had about four inches of snow in the last couple of days, here in south eastern Calgary.) Blue Jay has a route that carries him and a buddy or two, through the neighbourhood to pick up food.
Blue Jay has this to say: “I show up in your life when you need to be aware that magic is all around you. I carry messages for Great Spirit, the Mother of us all. I am about truth. I remind you that you need to speak your truth, act with truth, and be your truth. Working a mundane job to pay the mortgage is not soul satisfying. Perhaps it is time to quit doing the things that do not feed your spirit.”
