Spirit Speaks - The Tiger Lily

 

                 

 

The Tiger Lily always makes me think of my Grandmother who has been deceased for about fifteen years.  She loved the color of the flower, its resilience to drought and to drowning, and she loved that it stands straight up, looking at the Sun.  She would tell my brother and I, when we were five and six, that we should be like the Tiger Lily.

As I am processing big changes in my life, I decided that I would do some yard work.  I realized that my flower beds were looking bedraggled, and decided to go to check out the offerings at the nursery.  I felt like I was pulled over to the perennial section where there was a huge display of tiger lilies and other lilies.  The orange, and yellow, and pink lilies called to a part of my soul, and I went home with six pots of lilies. 

As I thought about my purchase, I realized that I felt happy and peaceful.  I felt the presence of my Grandmother like a warm hug.  Again, I could see Great Spirit’s hand in the way that I was guided out to the yard, and then to the nursery.  I felt the healing presence of great love and compassion.  I planted my lilies and I felt as though the world shifted for me.

Try planting a lily and see if it changes your feelings.

Spirit Speaks - Believe in Yourself

 

 

I always find it amusing and awesome that when I am having a moment where my faith falters, or I doubt the Universe, or where I think that things are not shifting for the better, that Spirit finds a way to tell me that IT is listening, and not to give up.

This poster arrived in my email this afternoon, and it arrived at a time when I needed it -  I was tripping over some rough bumps in the road.

Spirit Animal - Jack Rabbit’s Blessing

                                      

Last week, almost every night when I left work, a big Jack Rabbit would be sitting on the grass, just over the edge of the parking lot.  He always stopped what he was doing, and looked at me, and then went back to eating.  I knew that he considered me a friend because he was trusting.  I wasn’t sure why he thought I was a friend.  Tonight, he was almost beside my vehicle, as though he was waiting for me.  When I walked up to my truck, he popped over to the grass and began eating again.

Often Rabbit turns up because it heralds a new abundance in one’s life.  Rabbit can also signal a new birth of “something”.  As Rabbit is vegetarian, often, if it shows eating behaviour, it is telling the viewer that a green, vegetarian diet is the way to go.  If Rabbit exhibits hopping and running behaviour, it is commenting on one’s lack of exercise and the need for movement.  Where Rabbit seems out of place in its surroundings, it is telling the viewer that environment does not matter; that one can fit in anywhere.

As it happens, Rabbit has several messages for me.  The first is about diet.  I have been eating grains and beans and greens.  I feel good for doing this.  Second, with all of the renovations that we are doing, it feels like we are giving birth to something new – a new home for someone.  We do not plan on staying long, and we are looking for a new place.  I did feel, though, that Rabbit was giving me a blessing that all would be well, and that I can put my worries about house and food behind me.

Spirit Animal - Mountain Sheep

                   

Several weeks ago, Roger and I and the dogs spent four days in Radium Hot Springs.  We stayed in a lodge up the side of the mountain.  Everyday, when we took the dogs for their outings, we saw Mountain Sheep.  The Mountain Sheep seemed to show an unusual interest in us.  They would come down the slope towards us, baa-ing.  On one occasion, several ewes chased us down the path.  I use the word “chased” when perhaps all they were was curious. 

I began to wonder why the sheep were so in-our-face the whole time that we were in Radium.  Then I realized that they were telling me, by their actions, to be confident.  They were telling me to go forward and do what I must because, like the sheep, I could be sure footed in uneven ground.  I could be challenged, and not need to worry about falling.

On one outing, we were surrounded by rams.  They simply walked around us so that we were in the center of their ring, and then past us.  I understood that they were telling me that I could butt-heads with anyone, and be sure of victory.  They were also saying that the numbers did not matter.  And, they offered me their strength.

I realized that we were given a unique chance to interact with these wild animals because we were to learn some lessons from them.

I walk with the confidence of the Mountain Sheep, now.

Buddha Speaks - Nonviolence

This weekend, I had a chance to see various forms of violence in action.  I saw a parent with a small child who was having a temper tantrum, and the spank to the bottom which was delivered in anger.  I saw a man rage at a woman in a parking lot – he was claiming that she “took” his spot.  I saw a security person push an elderly man, who seemed to have some mental incapacity, out of the shopping center.  I watched two young brothers pound one another over a hockey stick.

These various actions brought home to me that my anger and frustration is something that I always carry with me.  Mostly, it is quiet.  However there are times that I can feel it simmer.  I meditate and I work on finding where the anger comes from.  I agree with the quote, that violence (and anger is a form of violence), hurts us more than it hurts anyone. 

I ask my angels to work with me to let my anger heal.  And, I forgive myself for feeling the anger.

Spirit Speaks - When you go to sleep at night

                                           

When you go to sleep in the night, just imagine that you are falling into divine hands...as if existence is supporting you, that you are in its lap, falling asleep. Just visualize it and fall asleep. The one thing to carry is that you should go on imagining and let sleep come, so that the imagination enters into sleep; they are overlapping.  - Osho

 

I have been finding that getting to sleep is difficult.  I normally do not have this problem.  I found this wonderful quotation from Osho and thought that I would try this – a visualization.  Osho’s guidance, for me, is a wonderful “how to” on getting to sleep.

These days, I am busy at work, we still have renovations going on, and dust is thicker than…. I don’t know what.  Cleaning seems to only momentarily reduce the dust.  The upheaval, this getting to the new me, is making me anxious and cranky.  I am trying all the remedies. 

Last night, Osho’s guidance helped me sleep.
