Spirit Animal - Hermit Crab

                               image

Sometimes, life is so surprising that getting up every day is a joy because you do not know what to expect.  It kind of makes every day like Christmas.

My big surprise today, was to walk into an office, and find that their mascots were three hermit crabs.  Two of the crabs came out to say hello, and one stayed hidden because it was so shy.  I guess that means that it lives up to its name.

One of the crabs, when I said hello, came very close to coming out of its shell to talk to me.  Everyone was surprised at its determination.  So, one of its caretakers picked it up and held it on her hand, and up to me.  It came out on four of its legs, waving its claws, and making what sounded like a clicking and a squeak.

The conversation translated into something like this:

  • Be sure that you have the right shell (house) for what you need to do in the next stage of your life.
  • Moulting is a good way to purge the stuff that doesn’t help you any longer.  (We are purging our storage, clothes, things that we don’t use, etc.)
  • Don’t forget to look for something slightly larger than what you have.  You grow into it and you still have things to do.
  • Find a place that you like to retreat to, and you will spend your time there, and not elsewhere.
  • Do not let anyone take your shell.
