No Matter What You Do

image

Have you noticed that regardless of what you do, even if you follow a particular person's advice, that they will complain that you did not do something right?  It seems to be a curse of the decade that people need to continually point out what you did wrong.

One thought is, if you do not tell someone that what they did is wrong, they will not learn what is right.  But, is that true?  Is there always a right way and a wrong way?

The best way to get along with others is to go where the people are loving. They will not point out mistakes.  They will make suggestions.

Many blessing.

Spirit Speaks–Your Health And Happiness Depend on Mother Earth

image

The Ancestors knew that we must all be in harmony with the Earth, with the natural cycle of things if all beings are to prosper and to continue their species, homo sapiens included.

Humans, however, have fallen out with the Earth.  They do not know why they feel so isolated, so lonely, so depressed.  The answer is that they have lost their "roots" in the Earth.

Even if it is cold, go outside and be in a park, even for ten minutes to rejuvenate.

Many blessings.

Don't Make Life About Stuff

image

The poster above says it all.  Do not collect stuff that will only serve your ego.  Collect friends, good meals together, go on outings, feed homeless or provide some sort of shelter and food  for animals. Make what you make count for something.

It's About Time

image

The grumbling at work this past week was all about time… how there is not enough of it; how we don't need daylight savings time anymore; how it seemed to be getting darker at an earlier time, and how much time friends and family take, never mind the amount of time you spend at work.

If we did not have clocks and if we did not have time, would we still do the same things?  Would we still need to find food to feed ourselves?  Yes!  Would we still need to make sure that we had shelter?  Yes! Would we still do things with friends and family?  Yes!  We would act mostly in the same way.

So what does it mean when people say, "I can't take time for that!"  What they are really saying is that they do not really want to do the activity in question.

Yet, we need to find the time to be compassionate for our self and for others.  We need to find time to be in harmony with our friends and family.  We need to find time for self healing.  We must absolutely find time to live our life, to love, to meditate, and to be mindful.

Many blessings.

Buddha Speaks - Do Not Bully Yourself

image

Our society is full of talk against bullying, and for good reason.  Bullying is imposing one's will over another, and in imposing that will, the will of the person and the needs of the person being bullied, go out the window.

Bullying is in direct opposition to the First Law of the Universe – Harm No One. Yet, we see many adults who bully others, intimidate others, and manipulate others.  They seem to think that it is okay.

As much as we believe in the rules/laws about anti-bullying, we still will bully ourselves.  We even use the same phrases against ourselves – against our body and our emotions – by trying to force them to be something that they are not.

For the next seven days, do not bully yourself.  Be kind to yourself.  Be strict if you have to be, but be conscious that we should treat ourselves as well as we can.

Many blessings.

Remembrance Day Nov 11 2018

image

Today, we remember our family and friends that fell in war or in peace keeping. We remember their courage and their belief that someone must do the right thing on behalf of all those people who can not do the right thing themselves – the aged, the children, the ill, and the caregivers.  We are grateful for their willingness to step forward when many will not.

Many blessings.

A Story About A Puppy

IMGP0167

A picture of our puppy, Magic, taken at Christmas time, 2006.

This is one of the neatest stories you will ever hear. You will know precisely what this little girl is talking about at the end (you'll want to share this one with your loved ones and special friends)!

                                *************

"Danielle keeps repeating it over and over again. We've been back to this animal shelter at least five times. It has been weeks now since we started all of this," the mother told the volunteer.
"What is it she keeps asking for?" the volunteer asked.
"Puppy size!" replied the mother.

"Well, we have plenty of puppies, if that's what she's looking for."
"I know…we have seen most of them," the mom said in frustration…
Just then Danielle came walking into the office.
"Well, did you find one?" asked her mom. "No, not this time,"
Danielle said with sadness in her voice. "Can we come back on the weekend?"

The two women looked at each other, shook their heads and laughed.
"You never know when we will get more dogs. Unfortunately, there's
always a supply," the volunteer said.
Danielle took her mother by the hand and headed to the door. "Don't worry, I'll find one this weekend," she said.
Over the next few days both mom and dad had long conversations with her. They both felt she was being too particular. "It's this weekend or we're not looking any more," Dad finally said in frustration.

"We don't want to hear anything more about puppy size either," Mom added.
Sure enough, they were the first ones in the shelter on Saturday
morning. By now Danielle knew her way around, so she ran right for the section that housed the smaller dogs. Tired of the routine, mom sat in the small waiting room at the end of the first row of cages. There was an observation window so you could see the animals during times when visitors weren't permitted. Danielle walked slowly from cage to cage, kneeling periodically to take a closer look. One by one the dogs were brought out and she held each one.
One by one she said, "Sorry, you're not the one."
It was the last cage on this last day in search of the perfect pup.
The volunteer opened the cage door and the child carefully picked up the dog and held it closely. This time she took a little longer.
"Mom, that's it! I found the right puppy! He's the one! I know it!" she screamed with joy. "It's the puppy size!"

"But it's the same size as all the other puppies you held over the
last few weeks," Mom said.
"No not size… the sighs. When I held him in my arms, he sighed," she said.
"Don't you remember? When I asked you one day what love is, you told me love depends on the sighs of your heart. The more you love, the bigger the sigh!"
The two women looked at each other for a moment. Mom didn't know whether to laugh or cry. As she stooped down to hug the child, she did a little of both.
"Mom, every time you hold me, I sigh. When you and Daddy come home from work and hug each other, you both sigh. I knew I would find the right puppy if it sighed when I held it in my arms," she said.

Close your eyes for a moment and think about the love that makes you sigh. I not only find it in the arms of my loved ones, but in the caress of a sunset, the kiss of the moonlight and the gentle brush of cool air on a hot day.

Many blessings.

Remember to Breathe

image

Our body consists of water. However the formula for water is H20. That means that each breath we take moves some hydrogen into water because the oxygen makes it so! It seems then that the deep breathing many of us never do is really a good habit. Breathe in, right to your pelvis, and hold for a count of seven. Breathe out for a count of seven. You guessed it! Repeat this seven times. More oxygen makes your skin look younger and healthier. Oxygen and water make you shine!

Happy November 1 2018

image

The year has flown and we are in count down to the end of 2018.  In Canada, November means that the snow will be arriving, again, and that daylight saving time ends this weekend.  The timing means that we need to think about Remembrance Day, Christmas, and cards.  In the US, it is countdown to Thanksgiving, planning for family and friends, and it is time to think about Black Friday.

These topics may seem frivolous, however, they are part of our annual fabric of life. We set our timing by these events.  The events have become important to us.

As you plan for November, take some time to think about the things that you can do to clean up some messy areas in your life.  Clean a closet.  Make a will.  Update your insurance.  Clean out the garage or basement storage.  You will feel a weight lift from your body that you did not know that you were carrying.

Many blessings.
