Spirit Animal - I’m Hungry

image

The Wolf will go to any lengths to provide for her young.  Part of human kind on the other hand, would rather buy alcohol, drugs, or cigarettes, then find food to feed their young.  The puzzle of life is what causes this kind of selfishness in humans.

Wolf will scrounge and go hungry herself.  She understands that the future of Wolf kind is not in the elders but is in the young.  They need to be nourished and trained.  They need to be cared for.

What will happen if we rewire the human super conscience to change from exploiting children to caring for children?  Shall we collectively, consciously send out this message to see what happens?

Wolf thinks we should.

Angels Speak - Deal With Fear

image

Recently, it seems that people are talking about being worried or being afraid of “something”.  There are many changes happening.  People are losing jobs. However, many are seeing this as a good thing and moving on to getting better jobs.  People are seeing interest rates rise.  This is a good thing because spending should slow down. Each of these things is not something to fear.

How does one get over fear?  Here are a couple of tips.

  1. Trust yourself.  You know in your heart what is best for you regardless of what the experts say.  Use your timing, not theirs.
  2. Research but do not get caught up in the perfect answer.  There is not any perfect answer.  Look to Nature to see how imperfection always is perfection because it is unique.
  3. If opportunity knocks, pursue it.  The Angels, or The Universe, or God, has placed this opportunity in your path.  Don’t go around it.
  4. Remember that everything takes some effort.  Do not be afraid to put some hard work into something that interests you.  You do not know what that hard work may bring you.  It may be connections for other opportunities.

Spirit Animal - Orca Dives In

image

We never really know what we can do until we dive in and do it.  Orca comes to remind us that being fearful and holding back from doing things is a form of laziness.  Doing new things and pushing the envelope of where you are comfortable causes us problems from time to time.  Yes, it takes more effort.  Yes, the effort sometimes hurts, especially if the effort is physical.  We need to move, to grow, to experience.  This is part of why challenges come our way.

Orca tells us:

  • The waves and current are mostly on the surface of the ocean.  Beneath, it is much calmer.
  • It takes strength to dive deep and swim in the calm.  It takes more strength and effort to swim in waves and current.  One gets exhausted faster.
  • Coming to the surface for air gives one a chance to look around and to experience what is on the horizon, above in the heavens, and to rejoice in the ability to move between experiences.

Recipe–Black Beans and Rice

image

More and more, I find that processed food is unsettling to my stomach.  The food that tastes the best is what I prepare from scratch.  This is an easy recipe to make in the crock pot.  And, as you get creative, you can add and subtract ingredients.

Ingredients

· 1 pounds beans, black, dry

· 7 cup(s) water

· 1 medium pepper(s), green, bell, coarsely chopped

· 1 1/2 cup(s) onion(s), chopped

· 1 tablespoon oil, vegetable

· 2 bay leaf

· 1 clove(s) garlic, minced

· 1/2 teaspoon salt

· 1 tablespoon vinegar, (or lemon juice)

· 6 cup(s) rice, cooked in unsalted water

· 4 ounce(s) pimento, sliced and drained

· 1 lemon, cut into wedges

Preparation

1. Pick through beans to remove bad ones. Soak beans overnight in cold water. Drain and rinse.

2. In large soup pot or Dutch oven, stir together beans, water, green pepper, onion, oil, bay leaves, garlic, and salt. Cover and boil for one hour.

3. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for three to four hours or until beans are very tender. Stir occasionally and add water if needed.

4. Remove and mash about 1/3 of beans. Return to pot. Stir and heat through.

5. When ready to serve, remove bay leaves and stir in vinegar or lemon juice.

6. Serve over rice. Garnish with sliced pimento and lemon wedges.

Spirit Animal - Secret of Life

image

I love the question, “What is the secret of life?”

Yes, it is a big question.  It has many answers.  I read in one of my books that the problem with humans is that they always look down instead of looking up.  They watch for rocks and stones and holes and things that could trip them up.  They watch from fear.

If humans looked up, they can follow the Sun, the Moon, the North Star, the flight of the birds, and watch how the wind blows the clouds.  Looking up brings us guiding messages.  Looking down all the time slows us down.

Yes, tripping and falling may cause a delay, however, there is much to be said for learning to pick yourself up time and time again.  Babies learing to walk do not look down.  They look forward and up.  They fall.  They stand up again.  They persevere.  They grow.  They are fearless.

I wish you fearlessness.

Mother Nature Speaks - The Strength Of The Trees

image

There are lots of shifts in commerce, inter country politics, and in weather that have happened this past week. Many individuals are wondering if the recession in Japan will hit North America.  At the end of the day, everything is a process that leads to something else.  To worry it, as a dog chews on a bone, does not fill the belly, or bring comfort.

What is needed at this time is a strong faith, in what ever your belief system.  Above all, we all need to be flexible.  I saw this poster and thought how apt it is for describing how we humans need to be during the turmoil.  I wish you the strength of the trees.

Spirit Animal - Life On The Rocks

image

Neil Diamond sings a song called “Love on the Rocks”.  The first verse is:

Love on the rocks ain't no surprise
Pour me a drink,
And I'll tell you some lies
Got nothing to lose,
So you just sing the blues, all the time…

As this picture shows, in nature, love and life is always on the rocks, the land, or the ocean.  Sometimes it is even in the sky.

In this case, life on the rocks is about getting out of the water.  In spiritual speak, water represents emotion.  So, getting up on the rocks is getting out of the emotions.  Rocks represent being grounded or being practical.

The animals are taking a break.  They are looking around and taking time to smell the seaweed.  Life is good.  Life is.

Angels Speak - A Prayer for Strength

image

Some readers have asked for a simple prayer or blessing or mantra that they can say to help them be strong in very trying times.  I like this beautiful blessing from Chief Dan George.

It speaks to the things that plague many of us – sadness, the aching to find beauty in something, acknowledging the tears that we cry, and why we need silence.

My suggestion is that you either write out the words, or print this, or put it on your phone so that you can say this silently four or five times a day. Say the blessing for yourself first, and then for one other.  Over time, add more people to the blessing.  Notice how the blessing makes you feel.  Be grateful for it.

Mother Nature Speaks - A Time For Everything

image

This beautiful poster makes me think about work and the pace we seem to be  expected to keep.  We are always in a hurry.  We brush off family and friends.  We lack sleep.  We do not value what we have and we want for more.  We are focused on STUFF.  The more stuff that we have, the more that we need to carry that responsibility of having STUFF.  It weighs us down.  It causes us to put on weight.  We become consumed with maintaining STUFF.  We hurry and hurry, and we grow weary.

Take one day, and try to move with the flow through the day.  Leave the hurry and the worry behind.  It is difficult to do.  How does it feel?

Angels Speak - Don’t Stop for Fear

image

Fear has been coming up a lot in conversations at work, in the discussions that I overhear at lunch in the open area at the food mall, and even in interviews on the radio.

What is going on in the world that is causing people to focus on the fear instead of on the goodness that is happening in many places?  Is it a hysteria that is being promoted by the media?  By religion? By politics?  Or, is it that great, group consciousness that realizes that there is a big change happening.  It is so big that no one really has a handle on it, and yet, everyone is feeling it.

One of my teachers said that fear is the absence of faith.  Not the religious kind of faith, although that counts, but faith in a greater existence beyond what we know on Earth.

Mother Nature Speaks - Shades of Blue

image

Often, when we see a scene in Nature, we stop and reflect on “things”.  It may be life, work, kids, spouses, or family.  For many belief systems, the color blue is associated with truth.  In a scene like the one above, the TRUTH of thoughts is triggered.  Shades of blue indicate the various levels of truth.

Really, what is true is individual to everyone, and will depend on the level of spiritual development that the person has achieved.  Someone who is extremely advanced or a the Ascended Master level will tell you everything is true.  They say that when you think something is false it is because you do not see the truth in all things.

I think that the shades of blue help us to focus on what is important.  What do you think about when you look at this picture?

Angels Speak - Prayer On Peace

image

From Native American Prayers www.ronpaulforums.com

Yesterday was a reminder that PEACE is what everyone craves.  However, the biggest opponent of peace is greed.  Perhaps we need to expand the prayer to ask that greed diminish until it no longer exists.

Unfortunately, we see greed at work, at home, at sporting events, and on all the media.  We cannot see peace when we cheer footballers for pummelling one another, or cheer fights at hockey games.  Each time we do, ticket sales go up, and the pride of competition feeds greed.

I wish all peace.

Mother Nature Speaks - Blessing Prayer

image

Thank you to all of you that sent emails asking for more prayers.

This prayer is a prayer and a blessing, so it is special.  It is one that I use for silent prayer for my friends when they are going through a tough time.

Spirit Animal - Wolf In Winter

image

Wolf says that this is the time to visit all the places that you could not see because you were busy in the summer.  This is the time to be thoughtful about what has past and where you want to go.  Wolf does what she can to make life easy on herself at this time.  She suggests that you do the same.

Blessings.

Mother Nature Speaks - Flexibility Counts

image

The other day, I was wondering how flexible I was.  I was being challenged to move past boundaries that I had set to keep my life simple.

Then, the Universe provided an answer through this little story.

Spirit Animal - Being The Black Sheep

image

Do you have black sheep in your family?  What does that mean?  The poster shows us the black sheep looks different from its siblings.  That is a wonderful thing.  Black Sheep shows a reaching back to a different set of genes.  This trait in Nature keeps our species strain quite powerful.

If someone has labeled you the black sheep – take heart.  You may be a rebel in your family’s eyes.  However, you are striking new pathways for the family and community around, and that comes up behind you. You are powerful.

Angels Speak - No Need For Fear

image

Sometimes, fear feels like an ocean. It is so big and the waves seem to come and wash over you.  You feel like you are being swallowed or drowned.

The Angels say that is not required any longer.  You can call on them and they will walk with you, through the valley of the shadow of fear.
