There are days when the noise is so great that you cannot hear yourself – or from your higher self. It is in those moments that you lose your identity. These are the times when you can repeat, “I AM”. This phrase defines you, the Universe, Great Spirit, and everyone around you.
It is identity.

Whether we are suffering at present or have suffered in the past, there is no reason to be unhappy. If we can remedy it, then why be unhappy? And if we cannot, there's no use in being unhappy about it—it's just one more thing to be unhappy about, which serves no purpose at all. - H.H. the Dalai Lama, "Enduring the Fires" |

Antelope comes to everyone with a message as it strolls about the hills, in the Sun and Wind. She says that it does the Soul good to go out and walk the hills of Nature. The hills contain plant life that is full of healing and that helps each of us to remember what it is like to be without technology links to the rest of the world. The peacefulness envelopes the walker and the Wind brushes over the head and back, giving a gentle massage from Nature.
It is time for you to walk in Nature.

Judy
Often, we thing that someone is beautiful, or we think they are homely, or we think that they talk funny. Often, we have judgments about others that has absolutely nothing to do with the other person. It has to do with us! It is our ego, comparing everything outside ourselves to attempt to protect us. The ego keeps us from learning about others and about ourselves.
When we see someone or something, we are seeing a reflection or ourselves; our thoughts; our emotions; and our dreams or imagining. This becomes how we see the world. Indeed, what we are seeing are the many faces of life, and how we participate in life. WE see OURSELVES as we see the many faces of Nature, the Ocean, the Sky, and all of the people.

I was sitting in a meeting several days ago, and someone said that nothing is ever black and white, quite emphatically. My mind began to spin! So many things are black and white… horses like the one above, or skunks, or pandas, or penguins, or rabbits, or magpies. My mind whirled. Zebras and Holstein cows and Dalmatian dogs and Puffins and Orcas (killer whales).
So what is that special coloration about? I wondered for a minute. In the material world, we have created so many things that are black and white like soccer balls and barcodes and cars (police cars). I began to think that black and white is a warning that we need to look beneath the wrapping to see what is really going on. Black and white is a warning for us to find our own truth and follow up on it until we are satisfied that we have learned what we need to learn.

In my dream, the white buffalo walked across the prairie, all by itself. I looked around and saw no herd. That is a very odd thing to see a buffalo without its herd. The buffalo headed towards me. I wondered if I should run.
Then the air rippled. And the shell of the white buffalo morphed into a beautiful women whose skin changed from red to white to brown to yellow to blue, and then the cycle continued again. She smiled and I knew that we were kin.
She called me and asked me to walk toward her. I walked quickly. I could see that she carried something.
“Priestess, I greet you. I ask that you tell the people that they must achieve peace or all will be destroyed. Man is the caretaker of the land; the land does not serve man. What is the benefit of profit? The wisest men of all time have lived simply, in harmony with the land. So it shall always be.”
With that, she turned around and walked away as a great, white buffalo.
Abruptly, I woke up.

Beaver has been showing up in strange places. Mostly, though, she shows up in places that have been contaminated or wrecked in some way. Her message is clear! “Clean up your act!” she says.
The clean up is about getting rid of junk – compressing it down into the smallest component and giving it away. She also is commenting on the throw away stuff that is so prevalent in the city world. She wants to get rid of containers that are plastic and harmful.
She points to the north where beavers have built a huge inland lake to clean up the toxicity of the land. If the animals can do it, you can do it too!

Sometimes, you find a mandala (a spiritual symbol) that resonates for you so loudly that you can hardly hear. The symbol may be quite specific or it may be filled with indefinite shapes. Whatever the layout, there is “something” in it that helps you focus and to become balanced.
A mandala may be used to set and hold sacred space for something, or, for clearing, if the mandala is highly regarded. It may be what helps you find your center in meditation.
This is the day that you start looking for your mandala, if you do not have one.

What is affection? The word is a noun meaning “a gentle feeling of fondness or liking”. In some definitions, it is a form of love. So, can Tiger, who is a solitary animal, have affection for another Tiger? The answer seems to be, “Yes”. And, it can happen to male and male or female and female. They are friends.
Perhaps the message here is that we all need to show affection to others – gently of course – for affection builds confidence in one’s self and in the other person. It is win-win.

Judy
The Angels remind us that often, when we see disaster, that newness is happening. In the Tarot, the Tower card has fire in it. The card is about change.
The fires that plague forested areas and put residences in peril, are part of a natural cycle of renewal. Most things in the natural world have an expiry date. Sometimes, Nature takes a hand to cause a forest to re-grow with a different main tree, or a meadow to re-grow without a certain week. We may study Nature for ever and not understand the cycles and attrition that happens as a matter of course.
When fire happens, there are some messages:

I have many friends who are currently changing their job or career, their home, and even their spouses/partners. It is a time when we are being called to a different path then the path we have been on. For some, it is joyous, as they now get to do what they have always wanted to do.
For others, it is an adventure, and with it comes some fear, because the path is unknown, and sometimes, it means leaving everything behind. As we walk forward, what we had, drops away. We cannot go back! Yes, people say you can go back. However, the truth is that everything changes and even in going back, you do go back to something new. Sometimes, going forward is the better option.
What do the changes mean? More and more, I think it is about choosing to recognize what is right and what is wrong. We are born with this kind of intuition. Yet, many of us trade it for unanimity.
What is your choice, today?

Judy
One animal that is very in tune with the Earth is Badger. She digs many dens and will burrow after prey, if it is worthy prey. She is always busy and it is not often that she is at rest. When she is resting, she provides her teachings. This time, her teachings are about “digging in”.

Early in school, we learn that the day starts in the country with the Rooster crowing up the Sun, and telling the animals and humans that day is starting. From that place, think of Rooster as the Master of Ceremonies for each day. Rooster crows that “a really big show is starting” and that truly describes the miracles that happen each day.
Unfortunately for many people, because their head is down, and because they are self absorbed, they miss the beginning of the show. They miss the commentary by the master of ceremonies, and they miss the magic and the miracles. If people do pay attention, they focus on those things that are dark and appear broken.
What if you had a rooster to awaken you each day to the beauty of the rising Sun? What if you could harness the energy of the miracles? What would you do?
Do it now!

We have all hear the motivational words about working harder to go beyond our limits which implies that our limits are self imposed. Perhaps they are; perhaps they are not. Who is to say? What is interesting however, is that Giraffe has been appearing almost daily to me in some form. She may be in a picture, a painting, a vision, on a blog, or even on a billboard. Usually this kind of repetition means that there is a message on hand.
Giraffe brings messages about:

One of the things that I have observed through the Calgary flood is that with all of the devastation, there are moment of grace. In these moments, one can count their blessings. I was talking with a friend, and we began a list of blessings.
The idea is to get the energy going around the blessings. Yes, there are lots of people that lost everything, and have to start over. As one announcer said, sometimes, that is a blessing too. How many people get to start over half way through their lives?
What are your blessings? Did you count them today? Here is a good example of one way to count them.

Judy
More and more of you are finding that you see us – as sparks, as bright lights, as globes, as shining people, as crosses with lights, or in so many different ways! Yes we do have different shapes that resonate with what you level of comfort will allow you to see. We are around, and we will be around. Ask us for help and ask us for signs. We are happy to be part of your life.

This is one of the greatest pictures – a butterfly blessing a golden retriever. Some days, you feel like no one loves you, and then someone unexpectedly gives you a blessing. This is what friendship is about.

I have not written about a recipe for a very long time. However, I thought this recipe was worth sharing. I have been experiencing some intolerance for gluten and therefore, for some grains. I love granola in the morning because it carries me through my longest meetings right from the time I eat it, at around 7:00AM to 12:30PM and beyond. Granola also makes a wholesome snack at the office. This recipe is very, very good, and very easy to make. My husband now likes to take it on the truck for a filling breakfast.
Grain Free Granola
2 cups sliced almonds or 1 cup each of almonds and crushed walnuts
1 cup each sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds (raw and unsalted)
3/4 cup each unsweetened coconut and raisins (raisins or other fruit is optional)
1/2 cup each sesame seeds and ground flax meal
1/4 cup each honey coconut oil or a bit of almond oil and olive oil
1 teaspoon vanilla (optional)
1/4 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine nuts, seeds, flax meal, coconut and raisins. In a small saucepan, combine butter and honey and heat until melted. Add vanilla and almond extract to the butter and honey, and pour over the rest of the ingredients. Mix well. Spread granola onto a large baking sheet and cook for 30 minutes. Let the granola cool, then break into small clusters. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
Let me know what you think of this recipe. Other good recipes are:

I had a friend come over on the weekend. She was devastated because she had been fired from her job, by email, based on third hand gossip. I was so sad for her! I wondered why an employer would act this way. And, as I was scrolling through the sites in Chrome, this picture popped up.
I had an AHA! moment where I knew that someone had not honored right speech, and the employer was not honorable and ignored right view and right action to spoil someone’s right livelihood. If ignorance is power, than this was an example of hurtful power in action.
Always, I ask, what is the lesson here? The answer that I got was that the person that got hurt (fired) had not been discriminating about who they would work for. Sometimes, this is hard because you get hired by a Human Resources department and you do not meet the immediate supervisor. I think that one of the issues is that sometimes, when we find there is a problem, we do not say, “Whoa and stop! This is a mistake!” Somewhere, we have learned that “when we make our bed, we must lie in it.”
I don’t believe that for a second! We can make choices and we can take right action by saying that we honestly made a mistake. And, we can start over.

Judy
June has been a tough month because of all of the project stuff, the family stuff, and the flood stuff. I have not had any extra energy to write, or to do anything extra. My time is mostly about what I have to do. I was thinking about how to do better and I realized that I was still weighted down by all the things people expect me to do.
I was feeling like I needed some answers to clear up what was going on with my thinking, and I saw the poster at the start of this blog. I believe that you have to go through a growing or percolating stage, before you get to the place where you understand a situation, and know “better” about it. I will get to that point, and celebrate when I do.

Judy
Happy Canada Day to everyone in Canada and to all the Canadians elsewhere!
Songwriters: IAN TYSON
Four strong winds that blow lonely, Seven seas that run high,
All these things that don't change, Come what may.
But our good times are all gone,
And I'm bound for moving on.
I'll look for you if I'm ever back this way.
Think I'll go out to Alberta,
Weather's good there in the fall.
Got some friends that I can go to working for,
Still I wish you'd change your mind
If I asked you one more time,
But we've been through that a hundred times or more.
If I get there before the snow flies,
And if things are going good,
You could meet me if I send you down the fare.
But if you wait until it's winter,
It will be no good
'Cause that wind sure can blow way out there.
Blessings,
Judy
